Is the lack of a sunroof on the XUV400 a big miss?
A sunroof is an important feature for many car buyers in India, and especially so in the premium compact SUV segment. While the Mahindra XUV400 is positioned and priced, it doesn't get a sunroof across any of the variants. Talk has ensued about whether this omission is a serious flaw or not much of a problem at all. While some say that a sunroof gives a premium feel and is good for ventilation, others add that it is hardly used in India’s hot climate and can be trouble down the line. There’s also debate as to whether Mahindra should have included this feature to be competitive, or if performance and range is more important.
It is a huge miss not to have a sunroof. Every premium car should have one, it's 2024. It’s not just for using it, it contributes to the whole feel of the car.
I don’t care about sunroofs, honestly. In India's heat they're useless and just another thing that can break. It would be better to have the better range and performance.
It’s not a deal breaker, but it does take some of the air of luxury out of the car. At least, Mahindra should have offered it as an option on the top variant.
In fact, I actually prefer not having a sunroof. It’s a weight saver, which is critical to an EV’s efficiency. Plus, it means I don’t have to be stooped over like I do in my Civic.
It's disappointing to not have a sunroof. That’s not about practicality, it’s about being able to have the option. The whole thing makes the car feel dated versus rivals.
Sunroofs are something people are way too hung up on. When it comes to an EV, performance and range are way more important than looks. Mahindra deserves kudos for getting things right.
I feel it is a missed opportunity. Considering that the cabin quality is on the receiving end of a lot of criticism, a sunroof would've made the interior feel more spacious and premium.
