So how do you compare the brand trust and reliability of other brand like, the Toyota Innova with the BYD eMAX 7?

For years, the Toyota Innova has been a staple of the Indian MPV market thanks to its bulletproof reliability and super strong resale value. All these factors have contributed to a brand trust deep rooted among Indian consumers. That’s where BYD enters the scene with the eMAX 7, an electric vehicle built with advanced technology and modern features. But BYD is a newcomer to the Indian market and it doesn’t have the same level of brand recognition or track record in the country. This makes one wonder how the eMAX 7 will be judged in terms of long term reliability and durability—considering the general scepticism towards electric vehicles in India. Will the global reputation BYD has in the EV space be enough to convince Indian buyers? Or will the new entrant prove too strong a barrier for the tried and tested reliability of the established players like Toyota?

Let’s be real, most people who are buying a Rs 30 lakh+ MPV don’t care about reliability too much. The eMAX 7 delivers all the latest tech and features, which is what they want. It's not the same market as the Innova buyer.

I am an early adopter and willing to bet on BYD. They have an impressive global track record, and somebody needs to challenge the status quo. And if competition just makes everyone's products better, that's a good thing.

It’s not just the brand, but the service network as well. There is a Toyota dealer and service center everywhere. To really compete, BYD has to match that level of after sales support.

I think BYD has a shot. EVs have fewer moving parts and should be more reliable, theoretically, and they're huge in China and have solid tech. They could win people over if they can prove their quality in the first few years.

No way. Toyota has decades of reputation of reliability. They have good tech, but they can’t match that trust overnight. It will take years of proven performance in India before getting even close.
