Will the BE 6's 682 km range really hold up in real world conditions?

It's not going to get 682 km in real world driving no way. Depending on how heavy you are on the accelerator and how much AC you're using, I'd expect maybe 70-75% of that in ideal conditions.
Will the BE 6's 682 km range really hold up in real world conditions?

If Mahindra’s using some pretty advanced battery tech then 682 km might be optimistic. I wouldn't be surprised if it does better than expected and gets to that figure a lot quicker than we all think.
Will the BE 6's 682 km range really hold up in real world conditions?

The real question is in what extreme conditions does it work. What's the range like in peak summer with the AC blasting, or on hilly terrain? That's what I want to know.

If it doesn't get to 682 km, anything above 500 km in the real world would be impressive for an Indian EV. We shouldn’t lose sight of how much of an improvement this is.

I'm skeptical. EV ranges are notoriously optimistic. I would wait for some long term owner reviews before passing judgement.

The 682km figure is probably achievable, but only if you’re really babying the throttle and driving in perfect conditions. Not very realistic for day to day use.

Just remember that even if it doesn’t reach 682 km, the BE 6 still has fast charging. It’s not a deal breaker if you can charge quickly on long trips, and the real world range is just a little bit lower.
How does the BE 6’s ADAS stack up against systems in other established EV brands?
09 January 2025 11:10
To be real, Mahindra's ADAS is going to be pretty basic compared to Tesla or even Hyundai. It's a new game and it'll take a while to dial in these systems.

Don't underestimate Mahindra. They've been working on this for a while and have teamed up with some pretty solid tech companies. We might be surprised with how capable it is.

It will have to be tested on Indian road conditions. This is a system tuned for our chaotic traffic and road markings (or lack thereof) and this could actually outperform the foreign systems here.

I’m just glad to see an Indian made EV with ADAS. It may not be the best, but it’s a huge step forward and will make other Indian manufacturers step up their game.
How does the BE 6’s ADAS stack up against systems in other established EV brands?

What bothers me is over reliance on these systems. People might even trust it too much, even though it’s not as advanced as Tesla’s. Mahindra has to be very clear on what its limitations are.

And the hardware is probably comparable to other brands. The real difference will be in software and how often Mahindra updates it. That’s where companies like Tesla really excel.

I wonder how customizable it is. Some ADAS systems are just too intrusive. That could be a big plus if Mahindra lets users fine tune the settings.
Can the BE 6’s Auto Park Assist feature actually be of use in Indian parking situations?
09 January 2025 11:10
Auto Park Assist in India? Good luck with that! Our parking spots aren’t even properly marked, most of them. I can't see how this will work well outside of malls and airports.

You'd be surprised. Well, these systems have come a long way. Just 50% is pretty useful. That'll make for good parallel parking on busy streets.

I think it'll be hit or miss. In some scenarios, useful, but likely too slow and too cautious for most Indian drivers used to quick, tight parking maneuvers.

Whether we need it or not doesn’t matter, we just want to have the option. For some people, this could be a godsend – they struggle with parking. And it’s a cool party trick to show off, too.
Can the BE 6’s Auto Park Assist feature actually be of use in Indian parking situations?

The thing I worry about is people relying on it too much. What happens when it doesn’t detect a small obstacle such as a rock or a steep curb? In fact, it could actually create more problems than it solves.

As for valet parking situations, I’m interested in how it deals with that. It could be really useful in restaurants and hotels where valets typically have to squeeze into tight places.
