Can the Mahindra BE.07's premium features live up to its expected high price tag?
The Mahindra BE.07 is touted as a premium electric SUV with a host of high end features like panoramic sunroof, three 12.3-inch screens that form an edge to edge display, over the air updates and advanced driver assistance systems. The BE.07's electric powertrain and new INGLO platform, plus these features, indicate that this is going to be an expensive car. According to estimates, it will sit in the ?25–30 lakh range and compete not just with premium ICE SUVs and other electric vehicles, but also with the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and the Mahindra Thar. This is a huge move for Mahindra, which has historically been known for value for money offerings. Can Indian consumers see the value in these new premium features, new technology, or will the high price be a barrier to adoption? Is Mahindra pricing itself out of its traditional market or is it necessary to establish itself in the premium EV segment?
I mean those features sound awesome, but a Mahindra for 30 lakhs? That's Audi Q3 territory. Tough sell.
If they get the quality right, they could make it. Take a look at how Kia changed opinions with the Seltos.
It's not just about features. You’re also paying for the R&D that went into the EV platform.
I believe that they're looking at the wrong market to serve. Mahindra buyers don't really care about tech showcases but rugged, affordable SUVs.
It’s expensive, but so is building EVs. Someone's gotta pay for it.
In a few years those screens will look dated. I’d rather have a lower price than fancy tech that will be obsolete soon.
But if it drives as good as it looks, 30 lakhs is not a bad price to pay. The experience is all about EVs.
The basics need to be nailed first. That's the thing, if you have fancy screens the build quality needs to be up to scratch.
