Will Indian owners of the BE 09 find the high tech features a boon or a burden?
The Mahindra BE 09 is loaded with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), multiple high resolution displays and an augmented reality head up display. On paper and at the showroom, these features are impressive, but for long term reliability and ease of use in India, there are doubts. For one thing, outside main cities, there are concerns about the cost and complexity of repairs. Meanwhile, not everybody believes all of those tech features are what cars truly need or whether they may become distracting to drivers. But there's also the question of how good these systems will be at Indian roads, with their peculiarities like unmarked lanes and varied traffic. But proponents say these features will make vehicles safer and put Indian cars on par with the world.
I love the tech, but I am nervous about maintenance. In a few years, all those fancy screens are going to glitch out, who's going to fix them?
