Is the Mahindra BE.07 too futuristic for the Indian market?
BE 07 is the concept on Mahindra, where a bold future design language is showcased in a tall stance, flat roofline and distinctive LED lighting elements. This avant-garde styling sure grabs eyeballs, but there's a debate if it's too radical for conservative Indian car buyers. The forward thinking design of these cars, though, is what some argue is needed to spur the market to adopt EVs, while others worry it might turn off customers who prefer more traditional aesthetics. While the success of other uniquely styled EVs such as the Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV indicate there is appetite for some fresh designs, the BE.07 takes things that bit further. Does the audacious design work, or is Mahindra biting off too much with such a space age face?
Indian carmakers should be willing to take some chances with design, I think. It’s time we’ve been stuck with boring, boxy SUVs. The BE.07 looks sick!
Nah, it's too much. My parents will never agree to something that looks like a spaceship. Mahindra should dial it down a bit.
That’s perfect for the target audience: young, tech savvy buyers who want to stand out. The XUV700 can be reserved for the older folks.
I’m afraid it’ll look dated really quickly. Do you remember how quickly those 'futuristic' designs from the early 2000's aged?
The aero probably helps with range, but it's not just about looks. When it comes to an EV, I’d take function over form any day.
It's a gamble for Mahindra, but it could pay off. See how popular the Kia EV6 is with its wild styling.
I love it, I can just tell they’ll water it down for production. Real thing never looks as cool as concept cars.
