About
The Maruti Ertiga Diesel LDi is a 7-seater MPV that stands out for its spacious and practical cabin. It features a 1.3L DDIS 200 diesel engine, producing 89 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The vehicle is equipped with a mild-hybrid system, though it lacks advanced hybrid features like regenerative braking. It comes with standard safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS EBD, and rear parking sensors. The Ertiga also offers a comfortable ride, thanks to its improved suspension, and features like projector headlamps, cooled cup-holders, and a user-friendly infotainment system. While the build quality is average, the Ertigas overall package of space, features, and fuel efficiency makes it a compelling choice in the Indian market.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Maruti Ertiga Diesel LDi is a practical and spacious MPV that caters well to the needs of Indian families and those seeking a versatile vehicle. While it boasts a comfortable ride and excellent suspension, which absorbs road irregularities effectively, the 1.3L DDIS 200 diesel engine can be a letdown, especially in city driving due to noticeable low-end lag. This lag can make the driving experience less enjoyable in urban conditions, but the engine shines in the mid-range, offering good performance on the highways. The vehicles build quality and refinement are average, but it compensates with its affordability, feature-packed interior, and Marutis reliable after-sales service. Overall, its a good choice for those prioritizing space, fuel efficiency, and practicality, but it may not be the best fit for those seeking a refined city driving experience.
Price
The Maruti Ertiga Diesel LDi is priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for this variant typically ranges between Rs. 8.85 lakh to Rs. 10.90 lakh, depending on the location and any additional features or trim levels. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, can range from approximately Rs. 10.5 lakh to Rs. 13 lakh. This pricing makes the Ertiga an attractive option compared to other 7-seater MPVs, offering a balance of affordability and features. However, the diesel variant carries a premium of around Rs. 1.9 lakh over the petrol version, which is something to consider during the buying decision.
Latest Updates
Sunday, 15 March 2020 08:42 PM
The Maruti Ertigas diesel variants, including the LDi, were discontinued in March 2020 due to the implementation of Bharat Stage 6 emission norms. This move marked the end of diesel engine options for the Ertiga in India. I believe this was a necessary step to comply with environmental regulations, but it might have disappointed some diesel loyalists.

In August 2019, Maruti Suzuki discontinued the 1.3-litre turbocharged diesel engine for the Ertiga, which was a significant change in the models lineup. This decision was part of the companys strategy to adapt to changing market and regulatory conditions. I think this move was a precursor to the eventual phase-out of diesel engines in their models.

The Maruti Ertiga LDi, with its 1.3-litre diesel engine, was known for its fuel efficiency and was a popular choice among those looking for a diesel MPV. However, with the introduction of the BS6 norms, the demand for diesel vehicles began to decline, leading to the eventual discontinuation of this variant. I believe the shift towards petrol and CNG options was a wise move given the market trends.

In April 2019, Maruti Suzuki introduced the 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine for the Ertiga, available in the VDi, ZDi, and ZDi+ trim levels. This engine was paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and was seen as a more powerful alternative to the 1.3-litre diesel. However, this engine was short-lived due to the upcoming BS6 norms. I think this was an attempt to keep the diesel option relevant before the eventual phase-out.
Wednesday, 21 November 2018 04:42 PM
The Maruti Ertiga LDi was part of the initial lineup when the second generation of the Ertiga was launched in India on November 21, 2018. This variant was priced competitively and offered features like engine immobilizer, child safety lock, and power door locks. I believe the LDi was a good entry-level option for those seeking a reliable and affordable MPV.

Overall the car is awesome but I dislike that u didn’t provide safety features like 6 airbags at least in ZDI + as it’s so expensive for the middle class as they are investing 12 lakhs in ZDI+ variant at least 6 airbags should be given
Best Features: Interiors of black and beige,AC vents,ABS,EBD,ESP all included
Pros: Interior colour beige I love that plus the chrome grill and chrome door handle good usage of chrome AC VENTS properly placed to cool the car
Cons: Atleast in ZDI plus diesel u must provide 6 airbags as it’s so expensive and the tyre size is too small just 14 to 15 inches atleast 16 inch u must have given in ZDI plus ie top variant
