Our take on this /// Verdict
The Maruti Ertiga Diesel VDi is a versatile and practical choice for those seeking a reliable multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in India. My experience with the Ertiga has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly in terms of its handling, fuel economy, and maintenance costs. The vehicle offers excellent value for money, making it a good compromise for those on a limited budget who need a balance of space, power, and comfort. The 1.5L diesel engine, although a bit noisy beyond 3000 rpm, provides sufficient power for both city and highway driving, and the improved suspension ensures a smooth ride even on bad roads. However, minor improvements such as a larger horn pad and different materials for the interior could enhance the overall experience. Overall, the Ertiga VDi is a solid choice for families and those needing a flexible, fun, and family-friendly vehicle.
Price
The price of the Maruti Ertiga Diesel VDi in India varies depending on the location and any additional features or variants chosen. As of recent data, the ex-showroom price for the Ertiga VDi can range from approximately 9.5 lakhs to 10.5 lakhs. On-road prices, including taxes, registration, and other costs, can go up to around 11.5 lakhs to 12.5 lakhs. This pricing makes the Ertiga a competitive option in the MPV segment, offering significant value compared to other vehicles like the Toyota Innova, which is notably more expensive. The affordability and lower maintenance costs of the Ertiga make it an attractive choice for middle-class families and those in the taxi business.

The new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will not come with a diesel automatic variant. Instead, the diesel version will only be available with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the petrol version will offer a 4-speed automatic gearbox. This decision aligns with Maruti Suzukis strategy to focus on petrol and CNG options. I believe this move could impact the appeal of the Ertiga to those who prefer automatic transmissions, especially in the diesel segment.

Maruti Suzuki has introduced a new cab variant of the Ertiga, the Tour M diesel, targeted at fleet operators. This variant is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 94 bhp and 225 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. It is priced at Rs. 9.81 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and boasts an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 24.2 kmpl. I think this is a smart move to capture the fleet market with a fuel-efficient and reliable option.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has undergone minor cosmetic updates and added new equipment, including a DualJet petrol engine. However, the diesel variants, such as the VDi, continue to use the 1.5-litre DDiS engine. The Ertiga also features a redesigned dashboard with a touchscreen infotainment system and other comfort amenities. I believe these updates will keep the Ertiga competitive in the market, especially with its enhanced interior features.

Maruti Suzuki has phased out the 1.3-litre diesel engine from the Ertiga lineup, replacing it with the new 1.5-litre diesel engine. This change was necessary due to the BS6 emission norms, making it financially impractical to upgrade the older engine. The new 1.5-litre diesel engine offers better performance and efficiency. I believe this upgrade will enhance the overall driving experience and compliance with emission standards.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga VDi variant, priced at Rs. 9.87 lakh (ex-showroom), features the 1.5-litre DDiS 225 diesel engine, producing 94 bhp and 225 Nm of torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and offers several safety features like dual airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchors. I think the VDi variant offers a good balance of power and safety, making it a viable option for those seeking a diesel MPV.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 05:12 PM
The Maruti Ertiga Diesel VDi offers commendable fuel economy, which is a crucial factor for many buyers in India. In city driving, you can expect an average mileage of around 14-15 kmpl, while on highways, it can achieve up to 19-20 kmpl with a light foot. Even with a heavy load or aggressive driving, the mileage remains respectable, typically ranging between 17-18 kmpl. This fuel efficiency, combined with the diesel engines performance, makes the Ertiga a cost-effective option for long road trips and daily use.

Overall the car is awesome but I dislike that u didn’t provide safety features like 6 airbags at least in ZDI + as it’s so expensive for the middle class as they are investing 12 lakhs in ZDI+ variant at least 6 airbags should be given
Best Features: Interiors of black and beige,AC vents,ABS,EBD,ESP all included
Pros: Interior colour beige I love that plus the chrome grill and chrome door handle good usage of chrome AC VENTS properly placed to cool the car
Cons: Atleast in ZDI plus diesel u must provide 6 airbags as it’s so expensive and the tyre size is too small just 14 to 15 inches atleast 16 inch u must have given in ZDI plus ie top variant
