It features a single-cylinder, air-cooled engine designed for smooth and reliable performance in city traffic. The scooter is equipped with standard features such as LED lighting, a comfortable seat, telescopic front suspension, and drum brakes, which provide sufficient control and comfort for everyday riding. Its ergonomic design offers a relaxed seating posture and sufficient under-seat storage suitable for helmets or small grocery bags, emphasizing convenience over sporty appeal. Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The Yamaha X-City stands out as a budget-friendly scooter designed to address urban commuting needs efficiently without compromising on practicality. It offers a simple, reliable 125cc engine that suits daily city rides, ensuring easy handling and decent performance for short to moderate distances. While it may not boast aggressive styling or premium features seen in some competitors, it prioritizes functionality with a comfortable riding posture, ample under-seat storage, and good fuel economy. The ride quality is competent enough for city roads, with adequate suspension to absorb minor bumps. Yamaha’s reputation for solid build quality and dependable service network adds confidence to ownership. This scooter appeals mostly to buyers looking for an economical, no-nonsense commuter with low running costs rather than speed or luxury. If your main focus is a trustworthy, fuss-free urban ride, the X-City fits well in that niche but lacks the flair or advanced tech features to excite enthusiasts or long-distance commuters.

Its efficient engine and smooth handling enhance the riding experience, especially in traffic-heavy Indian cities. While it may not offer ultra-high power or advanced tech features found in premium models, it nails the essentials with a focus on fuel efficiency, comfort, and ease of maintenance. For a buyer looking for a dependable, no-nonsense bike that blends style with everyday usability, the Yamaha X-City presents itself as a very sensible choice. The affordability and cost-to-value ratio further strengthen its appeal in the competitive Indian commuter motorcycle market.

On-road prices across major cities can vary slightly, typically ranging up to about Rs 1.35 lakh after including RTO registration, insurance, and handling charges. This pricing positions the X-City competitively against other 125cc scooters in India, where models from other manufacturers hover in a similar range but often trade off on Yamaha’s build quality and brand reliability. Considering the costs, the X-City offers sound value for those seeking an entry-level scooter with Yamaha’s trusted engineering. Its pricing keeps it accessible to students, working professionals, and first-time scooter buyers who prioritize cost-effective mobility over premium features. I REQUEST THAT YAMAHA SHOULD LAUNCH MORE BIKES IN THE RANGE OF 200CC,250CC,AND 300CC.WITH MORE AND MORE FEATURES LIKE TUBELESS TYRES,LED TAIL LIGHT,TRIP METER,DIGITAL GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR.

I WOULD ALSO REQUEST YAMAHA THAT IT SHOULD PARTICIPATE IN MASS MEDIA ADVERTISING OF THEIR BIKES AND IT SHOULD KEEP COMPANY QUALIFIED ARE COMPANY TRAINED MECHANICS IN THEIR YAMAHA SHOWROOMS.

Its good that YAMAHA is launching more variety of scooties in india, but this was not expected from this World's No. 1 company. Rather than launching more bikes in 200cc, 250cc 350cc, 500cc etc they are all ready to launch about 6 scooties.
I am really disappointed with this.
may be its their marketing strategy but THEY SHOULD LAUNCH MORE BIKES IN 200cc and 300cc category.

With all due love and respect to YAMAHA
