Our take on this /// Verdict
The Yamaha R15M MotoGP Edition is a standout in the Indian motorcycle market, particularly for those who are enthusiasts of MotoGP and the Yamaha brand. Mechanically, it remains identical to the other R15M variants, but the exclusive Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP team colours and graphics make it a unique offering. The 155cc liquid-cooled engine, producing 18.4 PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm at 7,500 rpm, is a gem, offering a dual nature that balances power and mileage. The quickshifter, slip and assist clutch, and traction control system enhance the riding experience, making it both exhilarating and safe. The bikes handling is its strongest suit, with razor-sharp precision and high-speed stability. However, the committed riding posture and pillion seat comfort could be areas of concern for some riders. Overall, its a keeper for life, especially for those who value performance, design, and the prestige of owning a MotoGP-inspired bike.
Price
The Yamaha R15M MotoGP Edition is priced at Rs 1.98 lakh ex-showroom in India. When you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other miscellaneous charges, the price can go up to around Rs 2.30-2.40 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. Given its features and performance, this price point is competitive, especially when compared to other sports bikes in the segment like the KTM RC200 and Hero Karizma XMR. The exclusive livery and the array of advanced features such as a colour TFT display, turn-by-turn navigation, and a quickshifter justify the premium pricing. For enthusiasts who are willing to invest in a high-performance bike with a unique aesthetic, the R15M MotoGP Edition offers good value.
Yamaha R15M MotoGP Edition on road price is Rs 2.28 lakh in Delhi, Rs 2.35 lakh in Mumbai, Rs 2.30 lakh in Kolkata and Rs 2.33 lakh in Chennai. The prices mentioned here are approximate and we suggest you contact your nearest Yamaha dealership to get the exact on road price quote in your city.
Latest Updates
Tuesday, 17 September 2024 12:03 PM Yamaha has launched the 2024 Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition of the R15M and MT-15 Version 2.0 in India, priced at Rs 1,98,800 and Rs 1,73,400 respectively. These limited editions feature a distinctive MotoGP-inspired livery, including special racing accents on the tank shrouds, fuel tank, and side panels. Mechanically, both bikes remain unchanged, powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled engine producing 18.4PS and 14.2Nm of torque. I think these editions will be a hit among MotoGP fans and young riders looking for a stylish and performance-oriented bike.
Monday, 16 September 2024 01:36 PM The 2024 Yamaha R15M MotoGP Edition boasts advanced features such as a Quick Shifter, a fully digital colour TFT display, Turn-by-Turn Navigation, Music & Volume control, and an LED license plate light. It also includes tech features like Traction Control System, Assist and Slipper Clutch, Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), and a Telescopic Upside-Down Fork. This makes it a compelling choice for track enthusiasts. I believe the combination of these features and the MotoGP livery will make this bike highly desirable.
Monday, 16 September 2024 12:14 PM Yamaha Motor India has introduced these special editions as part of their ‘The Call of the Blue’ brand campaign, aiming to capture the festive season market. The bikes will be available exclusively at Blue Square Showrooms across India. The MotoGP-inspired design reflects Yamahas racing heritage and is expected to appeal to a younger and more adventurous set of buyers. I think this strategic move will help Yamaha boost sales and enhance their market standing.
Monday, 16 September 2024 07:09 PM The R15M MotoGP Edition retains its mechanical specifications, including a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 18bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm at 7,500rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. It also features Bluetooth connectivity and a colour TFT display. The design is quite similar to the YZR-M1 MotoGP machine, with a black primary colour and streaks of blue and silver. I believe the design will be a major selling point for fans of MotoGP.
Monday, 16 September 2024 09:41 PM Yamaha has also introduced a Carbon Fibre Pattern Graphic variant of the R15M, priced at Rs 2.08 lakh, alongside the MotoGP Edition. This variant includes features like carbon fibre pattern graphics, turn-by-turn navigation, music and volume control, and an LED license plate light. The addition of these variants is expected to cater to a broader range of consumers during the festive season. I think offering multiple variants will help Yamaha appeal to different segments of the market.
Mileage
Monday, 18 November 2024 06:59 PM The mileage of the Yamaha R15M MotoGP Edition is a significant consideration for potential buyers in India. While the bike is primarily designed for performance, Yamahas engineering ensures it does not compromise too much on fuel efficiency. The Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology helps in achieving a balance between power and mileage. In real-world conditions, you can expect a mileage of around 35-40 kmpl in city riding and up to 45 kmpl on highways, depending on the riding style and conditions. This is respectable for a bike in its class, making it a viable option for both daily commuting and long rides. However, for those prioritizing mileage above all else, there might be other options in the market, but for performance enthusiasts, the R15M MotoGP Edition strikes a good balance. The On-Road Price also includes some optional things like if you opt for Genuine Accessories and Extended Warranty while buying a vehicle. Please note that the On-Road Price varies a lot across different states in India due to different percentage for the State Registration Charges.

My Journey with R15 V3

It was the year 2018, My Bajaj Pulsar had completed 15 years, so I was looking on the net for a new bike. When I saw it for the first time, an arrow of love went across my heart, although it had some shortcomings, in spite of this, I bought it and thought whatever will happen will be seen, the only drawback was only the headlight and riding position. Today is the month of 2021 September and today I am claiming that there is no match for it. I have taken it on the hills, on the highways, and on the rough village roads, but its performance is amazing, although the riding position is so aggressive that it hurts in the back but the performance is such that this thing is forgivable, I do exercise continuously to keep me fit to ride this beast and that's why I am fit because this bike is for the youth and for long running you must be fit as youth to ride it, so today I am also fit because of it, thank you for this. Good mileage, superior performance, looks, good reliable engine make it a clear winner wherever you go. This is my journey with R15 V3.
