Yamaha Diversion F
Yamaha Variant
General information and overview
The Yamaha XJ6 Diversion F is a 600cc, liquid-cooled, four-cylinder motorcycle designed with the commuter and tourer in mind. It features a tubular steel diamond-style frame, which provides stability and a confidence-inspiring ride. The engine, derived from the FZ6 Fazer but significantly reworked, delivers 77bhp and 44ftlb of torque, ensuring a smooth and linear power delivery. The bike is equipped with ABS as standard, two-piston calipers, and a digital speedometer along with an analogue rev counter. The riding position is comfortably upright with adjustable handlebars, making it suitable for long rides. The full-length fairing on the Diversion F model adds to its practicality by providing better wind protection. Overall, it is a reliable, comfortable, and practical motorcycle that is well-suited for a variety of riding conditions in India.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Yamaha XJ6 Diversion F is a versatile and practical motorcycle that excels in its role as a daily commuter and long-distance tourer. While it may not be the most thrilling ride, especially for those seeking high-performance, it compensates with its reliability, comfort, and ease of handling. The bikes linear power delivery, thanks to its reworked engine from the FZ6 Fazer series, provides a smooth and relaxed riding experience. The upright riding position, well-padded seat, and adjustable handlebars make it very comfortable for both solo and two-up riding. However, the gearbox and clutch action can be a bit clunky, and the bikes lack of excitement might deter some enthusiasts. Overall, it is a solid choice for those prioritizing comfort and practicality over raw performance.
Recent news and announcements
Yamaha is expected to launch the Diversion F in India soon, with the exact launch date yet to be announced. Market speculation suggests that the bike will be well-received due to its blend of performance, features, and practicality. I think the anticipation for this bike is high, and it could be a game-changer in the 600cc segment.
The Diversion F boasts a powerful engine producing 76.4 BHP at 10,000 rpm and 59.7 NM of torque at 8,000 rpm. This makes it a robust option for both city commuting and occasional long rides. The engines torque-focused tuning should provide a smooth riding experience.
Yamaha has confirmed that the Diversion F will be BS6-compliant, aligning with Indias emission norms. This ensures that the bike is environmentally friendly and meets current regulatory standards. I think this is a positive step towards a cleaner environment.
Yamaha has highlighted the Diversion Fs new style, which includes a low seat height for easy low-speed maneuverability, a single large aggressive headlight, and a tail-light with a number plate holder. This design is aimed at enhancing both aesthetics and practicality. I believe these changes will appeal to a broader range of riders.
The Diversion F is available in two color variants: Race Blue and Competition White. This limited but stylish color palette is expected to appeal to riders looking for a sleek and sporty appearance. I think these colors will stand out on Indian roads.
Pricing details and changes
As of my latest update, the Yamaha XJ6 Diversion F is not currently available in the Indian market as a new model, given its production run was from 2009 to 2016. However, if you are considering purchasing a used model, prices can vary widely depending on the condition, mileage, and year of the bike. Typically, you might expect to pay between 3.5 lakh to 5.5 lakh for a well-maintained used XJ6 Diversion F. This price range reflects the bikes durability and the value it retains over time. When calculating the on-road price, you would need to add costs such as registration, insurance, and any necessary maintenance or upgrades, which could add another 50,000 to 1 lakh to the overall cost.
Fuel efficiency information
The Yamaha XJ6 Diversion F offers respectable mileage for a 600cc motorcycle. In urban conditions, you can expect around 25-30 kml, while on the highways, this can improve to about 35-40 kml. These figures make it a reasonable choice for daily commuting and occasional long trips, considering its balance of power and fuel efficiency. However, actual mileage can vary based on riding style, road conditions, and maintenance of the bike.
