Overview
The first Indo-Japanese collaboration in the 1980s shook the Indian 2-wheeler scene with their Zippy range. Yamaha has always been known for its performance-oriented products, RD 350 and RX-100 cemented Yamaha’s image as a manufacturer of performance bikes. In the 4-stroke era, Yamaha succeeded with products like the Yamaha FZ series and the Yamaha YZF-R15. And now with the Aerox 155, Yamaha has a product in the scooter section as well.
Yamaha Aerox 155 Design and Style
The Aerox 155 has been created keeping three points in focus - proud body size, athletic proportions and the X centre motif, under the design concept of a “Heart-Shaking Speedster”. 2024 Yamaha Aerox 155 command presence with the central spine running high along the floorboard, which is not flat and space is limited. It is designed in a way that you need to mount it like a motorcycle, swinging a leg over. There is plenty of space for your feet, but not enough to carry things on the floorboard. The x-shaped design of the central spine looks unique but could be a problem every time trying to step around it. Aerox 155 has LED lights at both ends, but no LED turn indicators are provided on the standard model but can be added as an accessory. It comes with under-seat storage of 24.5 litres and on the inside of the glove compartment, there is a power socket.
Yamaha Aerox 155 Engine and Gearbox
The BS6-compliant liquid-cooled, 4-stroke SOHC, 155cc, 4-valve, fuel-injected engine with VVA in the Aerox 155 gives out a maximum power of 15.0 HP @ 8,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 13.9 Nm @ 6500 rpm. The 58mm bore and the 58.7mm stroke deliver excellent power and torque characteristics. The cylinder head, along with a compact combustion chamber, achieves a higher compression ratio that boosts combustion efficiency. It also optimises the coolant pathway to improve reliability. Smart Motor Generator System is paired with V-Belt automatic, Dry centrifugal transmission setup. The 155cc engine adopts a Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system that contributes to linear acceleration characteristics and SMG eliminates the sound of meshing gears, achieving a silent start every time.
Yamaha Aerox 155 Suspension, Brakes and Tyres
Yamaha maxi-sport scooter is suspended on an Underbone chassis with 26mm of telescopic forks at the front and unit swing at the rear. The braking duties are handled by the 230mm disc with single-channel ABS at the front and 130mm drum at the rear end. The Yamaha Aerox 155 is installed with the 14-inch alloy wheels and the tubeless tyres with the front section of 110/80 14 M/C 53P and the rear section of 140/70 14 M/C 62P.
Instrument Console of Yamaha Aerox 155
It features an all-digital 5.8-inch LCD instrument console with a rev counter and displays information like speedometer, tachometer, trip meter, odometer, clock, fuel gauge and ABS light, etc. You can use the Y-connect App through Bluetooth and add to its list of useful functions and information. Y-Connect app displays phone info on the instrument cluster, like the connection status and battery status of the smartphone, Call, SMS & Email alerts. Y-Connect also provides some more useful features such as a fuel consumption tracker, maintenance recommendations, last parking location, malfunction notification, revs dashboard, ranking, etc.

It looks sporty and holds a very interesting design, has a powerful engine and is aided with features to get the most out of this entry-level commuter scooter with good mileage numbers. The price might be on the expensive side and there could be some comfort issues while riding, other than that it is a pretty decent scooter to get started with.
