Mahindra Gusto Review
Overview
Mahindra has been struggling hard to stay up in the scooter market from a long time and this time, they brought something really interesting, making the user think once before going for some other option. The new Mahindra Gusto is a feature packed scooter having some things which other scooters can't even dream of having at present. After all these features, the price still competes all and the market strategy is expected to bring some change to the company sales.
Design & Style
The Gusto has been nicely designed and the most interesting part of the scooter is at the front, wing shaped design fits the body so accurately that when it drives, it seems to be on real wings. Every bend and curve has been properly shaped, making it an ideal scooter setup. The side design is very simple and the exhaust seems to be perfectly matching the body shape above it.
Instrument Console
A fully analogue instrument console has been used on the Mahindra Gusto. It is enclosed in a very nice colored plastic cabin, with separate compartments for speedometer, fuel gauge and the LED indications. Not just that, the console has a quick storage space below it, which can be slides out to place some small things like phone or sunglasses. This was a first time feature to be in a scooter in India.
Engine & Performance
The Gusto has a 110 cc M-TEC engine, producing 8 BHP @ 7500 rpm and 9 NM @ 5500 rpm. The engine has been tuned in order to perform maximum possible mileage even when the driving conditions start becoming worse. The Gusto comes with a self-start option, but first time in India, an easy front kick has been provided, which makes it easier to start like the motorcycles. Its CVT transmission is said to be very smooth.
Comfort while Riding
In the comfort section, Gusto leads ahead of all the other competitors with its unique seat height adjustment feature. The seat height of Gusto can be lowered by 35 mm (770 when high, 735 when low) very conveniently and the driving becomes easy even for a person with short height. The large 12 inch tires used on Gusto makes it more smooth ride over the other rivals and also it features telescopic suspension at the front, making it easy over the bumps and potholes.
Safety
Mahindra has offered a plenty of safety features on the new Gusto which include the guide lamps, which turn off after sometime while you park the Gusto at night. Also the flip key of the Gusto has a LED light which helps in the keyhole illumination at night. It comes with 130 mm drum brakes for both the front and rear tire. By pressing the button on the flip key, find me lamps blink and beep in order to show exactly where the Gusto has been parked at night.
Shades & Variants
Gusto is available in Volcanic Red, Magnetic Magenta, Iceberg White and Galactic Black shade. It is available in three vVariants namely DX, HX and VX.
