Hero Splendor Pro Review
Quick Review by Maxabout Team
Hero Splendor is India's largest selling bike, the reason behind which is stated in their tagline 'lage aisa, family jaisa'. It’s the most reliable vehicle available in the market since its launch and the original Splendor has evolved a little bit to be Splendor Pro.
Design and Style
Hero has carried over the same iconic classic design, which no doubt lacks those modern day curves but still stands out of the crowd with its simplicity. Fuel tank has got some serious sticker styling which justifies the classic look. The opening style of the fuel tank differentiates it from every other bike in the market.
Instrument Console
Classic in nature, the Splendor Pro carries the analog arrangement of meters in the console, with a blue illumination at the back of the speedometer. Chrome finish on the outer circles of the console differentiates it from its siblings.
Engine & Performance
Hero powers the bestseller with a 97.2 cc air cooled, 4 stroke single cylinder engine, which uses the parallel APDV technology in the Pro model to increase its efficiency. It produces 8.2 Bhp of power @ 8000 rpm and a torque of 8.05 Nm @ 5000 rpm.
Comfort while Riding
Hero has made it in such a way that the best sitting position is achieved for both the riders and the handlebar position is perfect for every ride, whether long or short. No gear changing problem at short intervals is faced at all. However the seat may feel a bit small for taller individuals.
Mileage
Mileage has always been the topmost concern for the Splendor family and the Pro model has improvements over the earlier model. It return 60-65 kmpl in the city whereas on impressive 70+ kmpl on the highway.
Brakes and Suspension
Splendor Pro uses internal expanding shoe type drum brakes, 130 mm for the front and 110 mm for the rear. Suspension being used is the telescopic hydraulic shock absorber at the front and swing arm with 5 step adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear.
Ride and Handling
Splendor Pro provides a superb ride experience as it rides on 18 inch tyres which are dominating on problem creating pits. Handlebar positioning and the self-start option add up to its charm.
Variants
Splendor Pro comes in five combinations. These are kick start with alloy wheel, kick start with spoke wheel, self-start with alloy wheel, self-start with spoke wheel and self-start with black alloy wheel.
Shades
Hero offers 8 shades namely Black Monotone, Palace Maroon, Candy Blazing Red, Cloud Silver, Excellent Blue, Heavy Grey, Granite Blue and Black purple.
Price
The kick start with alloy wheel and kick start with spoke wheel model costs 47,650 INR and 46,650 respectively. The self-start with alloy wheel and self-start with spoke wheel variant costs 49,600 INR and 48,550 INR respectively. A self-start edition with black alloy wheel costs 50,000 INR.
Verdict
History of the Splendor in Indian market clearly explains how useful it was and will be in the near future. Classic styling with the advanced features makes it all worth the money.

User Reviews for Hero Splendor Pro
Definitely everyone has to trust on Splendor Pro
Weight, pickup, engine and long driving efficiency are best. I have driven it nonstop 3 to 4 hours on NH4 many times.
Best Features: Carrier helps to carry luggage. Helps farmers to carry bags
Pros: Engine quality, built quality, mileage
Cons: Sound after releasing clutch
Not up to mark
I think after separation from honda, Hero has lost its grip over quality of commuter bikes. They boast 70 kmpl and above but I get only 45-55 mileage riding at economy speed. On highway it gives nearly 60 kmpl at constant economy speed. Its seat is irritating, after 30 km riding you don't want to ride, poor suspension. Only thing beat is acceleration and speed comparing small engine. It won't start by self start but you have to kick at early morning. I don't suggest this bike for purchase.
Best Features: Handling is best.
Pros: Handling, acceleration
Cons: Mileage, poor customer service, uncomfortable, poor suspension
Retro Style Motorcycle at a Budget
One of the best bike to ride. Its overall height make it easy to handle in heavy traffic. One flat seat is comfortable for long tours. It returns me 60-70 kmpl mileage which is my major reason to purchase this bike. I am happy to own this motorcycle.
Best Features: Mileage and Comfort
Pros: Price, Comfort, Style, Performance, Mileage
Cons: No Pillion seat
Economical Classy Bike
This is all new class looking bike. The throttle response of the motorcycle is quicker and sudden in nature as compared to other Splendor variants. Its kerb weight is low which makes it handy in city riding. The ergonomics is typical commuter-ish with comfortable front foot pegs, upward seating position and easily reachable handlebars. This bike is budget friendly and is fuel efficient and gives me a mileage of 61 to 65 km/l in cities and 68 to 73 km/l on highways. The bike has no front disc which is essential if we see the Indian road conditions and centre stand is also not present which can be a hurdle in the comfort of pillion rider.
Best Features: Fuel Efficient & Excellent Mileage
Pros: Refined APDV engine, excellent mileage, superb styling, value for money, fuel efficient, handling comfort, low kerb weight
Cons: No front disc, no centre stand, akwardly set front foot pegs, single seater
