Our take on this /// Verdict
The Ducati Monster 796 is a stellar example of Italian engineering and design, making it a compelling choice for enthusiasts in India. This bike stands out with its powerful 803cc two-cylinder engine, producing 85 bhp and 80 Nm of torque, which translates into a thrilling riding experience. The six-speed sequential gearbox and the trellis frame with 43mm USD forks and an adjustable monoshock ensure stability and handling that is hard to match. The bikes design, with its exposed support frame, single side swingarm, and massive dual exhausts, is a visual treat. While it may not be the most economical option, the Monster 796 offers a unique blend of performance, comfort, and style that justifies its premium tag. For those who value the raw power and aesthetic appeal of a true streetfighter, the Ducati Monster 796 is an excellent choice.
Price
In India, the Ducati Monster 796, although not currently in production, would have been priced competitively within the premium motorcycle segment. Historically, the ex-showroom price for the Ducati Monster 796 in India was around 6.5 to 7.5 lakhs. However, the on-road price, including taxes, registration, and other costs, would have been closer to 8 to 9.5 lakhs. Given the bikes performance, build quality, and brand reputation, this pricing was reasonable for the segment. For those looking to purchase a used model, prices can vary based on the condition, mileage, and year of the bike, but expect to pay anywhere from 4 to 6 lakhs.
Latest Updates
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 06:44 AM The Ducati Monster 796, though not specifically labeled as an S2R, has been a topic of discussion among enthusiasts for its performance and design. Recently, there has been speculation about the bikes riding position, with the 796 offering a more upright stance compared to the S2Rs more forward-leaning position. This makes the 796 more comfortable for casual riders. I think this comfort factor is a significant selling point for those who prioritize everyday usability.
Tuesday, 15 October 2024 07:56 PM In terms of market pricing, the Ducati Monster 796 has been seen to be priced competitively with other models like the S2R. For instance, a 2011 Ducati Monster 796 was listed for around $6,999, which is roughly Rs. 5.7 lakh, making it an attractive option for those looking for a balance between performance and cost. I believe this pricing strategy helps Ducati stay competitive in the Indian market.
Friday, 20 September 2024 06:38 PM The engine performance of the Ducati Monster 796 has been a subject of discussion, with some users noting that it has a narrow power band and can shudder below 4,000 RPM. However, this does not seem to deter enthusiasts who appreciate its overall riding experience. The bikes engine is known to be stable and enjoyable, despite its limitations. I think this stability is crucial for riders who are not speed demons but value a fun and quality ride.
Monday, 26 August 2024 12:15 AM Design-wise, the Ducati Monster 796 is often praised for its aesthetic appeal, with many considering it slightly more appealing than the 696 model, primarily due to the presence of the Single Sided Swing Arm (SSSA). This feature not only enhances the look but also adds to the bikes overall appeal. I believe the SSSA is a standout feature that sets the 796 apart from its siblings.
Wednesday, 10 July 2024 08:10 AM There has been no official announcement from Ducati about launching a specific S2R variant of the Monster 796 in India. However, the existing Monster 796 model has garnered significant interest among Indian bikers for its blend of performance and style. I think the absence of an S2R variant might not be a major deterrent for enthusiasts who are already drawn to the 796s capabilities.
Saturday, 15 June 2024 03:19 PM The Ducati Monster 796 has been compared to other models like the S2R and S4R in terms of riding experience. While the S2R and S4R models are known for their sportier stance, the 796 offers a more relaxed riding position, making it more suitable for everyday riding. This versatility is a key factor for many potential buyers. I believe this versatility is what makes the 796 a popular choice among a wide range of riders.
Monday, 20 May 2024 08:08 PM In the used bike market, the Ducati Monster 796 and S2R models have been seen to fluctuate in price, with listings varying widely. For example, a 2011 Monster 796 was listed for around $6,999, while S2R models have been listed between $4,150 and $7,500. This variability in pricing can make it challenging for buyers to determine the best value. I think its crucial for buyers to test ride these bikes to make an informed decision.
Wednesday, 10 April 2024 11:11 PM The Ducati Monster 796 is known for its enjoyable and fun riding experience, which is a key selling point for many enthusiasts. Unlike speed-focused models, the 796 is appreciated for its quality and stability, making it a great choice for those who are not speed demons. I believe this focus on enjoyable riding is what keeps the 796 in high demand.
Monday, 25 March 2024 05:03 PM The color schemes and design elements of the Ducati Monster 796 have been a point of discussion, with many enthusiasts appreciating the blue and white color combo available on some models. This aesthetic appeal, combined with the bikes performance, makes it a desirable option. I think the attention to detail in design is a significant factor in the bikes popularity.
Tuesday, 20 February 2024 02:17 PM The riding experience of the Ducati Monster 796 is often described as stable and great, with many riders praising its comfort and handling. This stability is particularly noted in comparison to more sport-oriented models like the S2R and S4R. I believe this stability makes the 796 an excellent choice for a wide range of riders.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 12:00 PM When it comes to mileage, the Ducati Monster 796 is not designed for fuel efficiency but for performance. Owners have reported mileage figures of around 15 kmpl in city riding and up to 21 kmpl on highways. While these numbers are not impressive compared to more fuel-efficient bikes, they are reasonable given the bikes powerful engine and intended use. For buyers concerned about running costs, its essential to consider the overall cost of ownership, including maintenance and fuel expenses, but for those who prioritize performance and riding experience, the Monster 796 remains a viable option.

Ducati is a specifically known for creating and manufacturing of sports bikes. Since 1950 they introduced amazing sports bikes with powerful engines. I owned Ducati's Red color monster 795 a year ago. It is an amazing sports bike that everyone wants. It is one the most affordable Ducati on sale today. It has all high-end features. But, there are some drawbacks also like anti-lock braking system is absent there in this bike but you can get it on request. Apart from that Ducati has limited sales and service outlets which is again a problem. It accelerates so quickly, I have to make a conscious effort to stay in tune with the speeds. No, doubt it is really a monster and when, I ride this bike it makes me more and more happier.
