Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The Bajaj Avenger 220 is a good dependable bike in this segment. Bajaj Avenger is famous for its cruiser-style design and smooth ride. It may not be the fastest but it is perfect for relaxed cruising and city commuting. If you want a bike with a cruiser look and easy-going performance then the Avenger 220 is a good choice.

Latest Updates

Recent news and announcements

Bajaj Auto discontinued the Avenger 220. The reason for the discontinuation of the Avenger 220 might be its slow sales since the company already has a more affordable Avenger 160 Street which is quite famous and garners decent sales.

September 28, 2023

The Bajaj Avenger Street 220 has been discontinued from the market, as indicated by its removal from the companys official website. This move suggests that Bajaj is streamlining its product lineup. I believe this decision might be part of a broader strategy to focus on more popular or profitable models.

April 22, 2020

Bajaj updated the Avenger 220 models in 2018 with several cosmetic and feature enhancements. The new designs include redesigned headlamps, LED DRLs, and a more aerodynamic windscreen for the Cruise 220. Additionally, the bikes now feature dual digital displays and increased rear suspension travel. I think these updates made the Avenger 220 more appealing and comfortable for riders.

January 19, 2018

Before its discontinuation, the Bajaj Avenger Street 220 was priced at around Rs 1.15 lakh, offering a competitive package in the cruiser segment. The bike featured a matte black and matte white color scheme, adding to its sporty appeal. I think the pricing was one of its strong points, making it accessible to a wider audience.

July 19, 2010

The Bajaj Avenger 220, particularly the Street 220, was known for its good looks, solid build quality, and comfortable ride, making it a favorite among cruiser enthusiasts. The bike came with a 219.9 cc engine producing 19.03 HP and 17.5 Nm of torque. I believe its combination of performance and comfort made it a great value for money.

Summary

I am using Avenger 220 since 2011
I am using Avenger 220 since 2011 in 2018 I got bored from Avenger and purchased a gunmetal grey 350. After few months I realised nothing can beat Avenger in cruising and comfort. 2011 model Avenger easily beats 2018 model Royal Enfield in every aspect

Vehicle Overview
Bajaj Avenger 220 was available just in single shades and carried one model for both street and cruise purpose. The bike is powered by a 219.8c, air cooled engine producing 18.8 BHP and 17.5 Nm of torque. It matched more to the current date Avenger 220 Cruise but carried plain shades like Red and Blue instead for the Chrome studded Black and Desert Brown shade in the current generation motorcycle. Despite of being a cruiser, the motorcycle drives the same way as a sportbike and comes out to be the only one with such cruiser focused design.

Expert Verdict

Professional reviews and expert opinions on Bajaj Avenger 220 (Old Model)

27 Oct, 15 11:16 AM

The Bajaj Avenger 220 is a cruiser-type performance motorcycle that serves as a successor to Bajaj’s popular cruiser, the Avenger 200, but the similarities between the two models are extensive. So is the Avenger 220 worth a second look, or has Bajaj's usually innovative R&D department blundered by introducing such a close sibling?
