Discussions and Questions Mahindra Scorpio

How much space does the Mahindra Scorpio N's boot have?
17 April 2025 17:30

The Mahindra Scorpio N offers a boot space of 460 litres, providing ample room for luggage. With all three rows up, the boot space is somewhat limited, but it can still accommodate a few soft bags. However, folding down the middle row significantly increases the available space, making it capable of handling substantial luggage, such as several large suitcases, especially when the third row is also folded down[4).

Is the body on frame construction of Scorpio – N outdated vis a vis modern monocoque SUVs?
27 December 2024 10:03
What makes the Scorpio-N special is the body on frame. It’s not a car like crossover but it’s not trying to be one. If you want that, then buy something else. This is for the people who really want a proper, tough SUV.
Is the Scorpio-N's interior too utilitarian for the competition?
27 December 2024 10:03
Mahindra missed an opportunity here, I feel. While they could have kept the rugged feel but made it feel more premium. The new Thar is a good example of this balance when it comes to the interior.
Is the Scorpio-N too big to use in cities?
27 December 2024 10:03
I drive a Scorpio N daily in Mumbai and, honestly, it’s not as bad as you’d think it is. Yes, it’s large, but the steering is light and the cameras make a big difference in tight situations.
Do the Scorpio-N’s ADAS features actually make sense in Indian driving conditions?
27 December 2024 10:03
Being able to have the ADAS features at least gives me a peace of mind when I’m driving and family. It’s worth having that extra layer of safety, even if they’re not perfect.
Is the 4XPLOR system of the Scorpio-N actually useful or just marketing hype?
27 December 2024 10:03
I think it's a bit of both. Mahindra's marketing oversells the system, but the system does work. It won’t make the Scorpio-N into a hardcore off roader, but it does make it more capable than your average SUV. It's up to the buyer if that is worth the price.
Is the fact that the Scorpio Classic is not an automatic a big deal?
27 December 2024 09:51
It depends on your use case, I think. The manual is great for enthusiasts — and rural drivers. However, because there is no auto option, urban families that are looking for a comfortable SUV might simply opt for other brands. This might be costing Mahindra a big chunk of potential buyers.
Does the Scorpio Classic deserve its price tag?
27 December 2024 09:51
I actually like the interior. It’s not pretending to be something it’s not. It's functional, it's spacious and it fits the Scorpio character. Could it be better? Sure. It's not as bad as some people make it out to be though. I think it's honest, and that has value.
Is the Scorpio Classic still the classic in the age of modern crossovers?
27 December 2024 09:51
I don't think so. Better fuel economy, more features and easier to drive in the city are some of the advantages crossovers have over their predecessors. The Scorpio feels old-fashioned by comparison. If you had a choice between flip phone and a smartphone, it's similar to that.
Is the Scorpio Classic's infotainment system a deal breaker?
27 December 2024 09:51
Well, I think it really depends on what you are using the Scorpio for. However, if that’s mainly for off roading or work purposes, the basic infotainment is fine. For daily commuters or families, it's a big miss. This aspect should have been put more effort by Mahindra.
How does the Scorpio Classic fare as an offroader?
27 December 2024 09:51
It's a mixed bag for me. It's comfortable enough around town. On long highway drives, I start to notice that the shortcomings start to show, however. It’s not great, but it’s not terrible. Mahindra still has some work to do in this department, I think.
Which one is best XUV700 or Scorpio N
28 August 2023 10:15

These two SUVs are pretty different. The XUV700 is more about being comfortable for families, while the Scorpio N is tougher for off-road adventures. The Scorpio N has a strong 4x4 system, while the XUV700 has AWD. The XUV700 has more cool things like ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a big sunroof, a digital driver's display, and a larger touchscreen. It simply depends on what someone wants, neither SUV is necessarily superior than the other.
