How does the Scorpio Classic fare as an offroader?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views5 comments
The Mahindra Scorpio has been known for its tough, go anywhere image for a long time. The Classic version of Mahindra has also updated the suspension and ride quality. But opinions seem to differ widely as to how much these improvements have succeeded. For some, the increased comfort and stability is a boon, especially on the highway, while some say they feel excessive vibrations at higher speed and too little stability when changing lanes. Body on frame construction certainly makes for a durable vehicle but it has its impact on the on road manners. Ride quality is important for a vehicle that’s used a lot for both city driving and long highway trips. Is the Scorpio Classic gruesome enough or does it fail to make for a smooth and refined driving experience that is its price range demands?

I actually like the ride. It's firm but not harsh. You feel connected to the road, and I like that better than a numb feeling you get in some modern SUVs. And it's better than the old Scorpio by miles, so Mahindra is surely going in the right direction.

You guys are completely missing the point. The Scorpio isn't pretending to be a plush ride — it's a real, honest to goodness, SUV. That slight roughness is part of its make up. But if you want something that glides over bumps, get a crossover.

It's a mixed bag for me. It's comfortable enough around town. On long highway drives, I start to notice that the shortcomings start to show, however. It’s not great, but it’s not terrible. Mahindra still has some work to do in this department, I think.

I'm a little disappointed, I'm honest. With all the hype about improvements, I expected better from Mahindra. It’s really annoying at high speeds and is a bit unstable when you do quick lane changes. Not cool for a car at this price.

I've taken the Scorpio Classic to some pretty rough roads and this thing can really handle 'em. It’s not as smooth as a luxury sedan, but that’s not what it’s for. And it feels solid, capable, exactly what I want in an SUV.
