With a fully loaded luggage setup, how does the KTM 1290 Super Adventure ride two-up?
13 January 2025 07:02
Surprisingly capable! The electronics really help with the extra weight. All you need to know is that when fully loaded, you will be making more frequent fuel stops.
Do the advanced electronics on the KTM 1290 Super Adventure help or hinder serious off-road riding?
13 January 2025 07:02
Mixed bag. Good on gravel roads and light trails, but annoying on very technical stuff. They’re not easy things to use, and it takes time to learn how to use them well.
Is the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R really as good as the hype for off-road adventures?
13 January 2025 07:02
The machine is an incredible thing, but the maintenance costs and the likelihood of expensive repairs in remote areas are enough to keep me from really pushing its limits off-road.
How does the KTM 1290 Super Adventure stack up in reliability to Japanese adventure bikes?
13 January 2025 07:02
Both are owned by me, and honestly, the gap isn’t nearly as big as it used to be. My old Suzuki V-Strom has been just as reliable as my KTM.
Did KTM price themselves out of the market with the 790 Adventure, or is it worth the premium over Japanese rivals?
13 January 2025 06:56
If you are mostly on the road, it is not worth it. Japanese alternatives are better value for money.
Is the KTM 790 Adventure's fuel tank a game changer or a gimmick?
13 January 2025 06:56
It's not just hype. While they are noticeably easier to maneuver in tight spots, Arduinos can be very cumbersome and cumbersome to work with.
How does the KTM 790 Adventure fare two-up and on long-distance trips?
13 January 2025 06:56
It’s a touring beast, with the right luggage setup. Used to cross Europe two up, no problem.
Can the KTM 790 Adventure be relied upon for long-distance touring?
13 January 2025 06:56
2 years with no major problems, but there are small ones far more often than on my Japanese bikes.
What’s the difference between the 2023 KTM 790 Adventure and the original Austrian made version?
13 January 2025 06:56
The character of the engine is the same. You wouldn't know that it's made some place else if you didn't know.
Are the electronics on the KTM 390 Adventure good or bad for off-road riding?
13 January 2025 06:40
The throttle is a ride-by-wire, which means it gives amazing fuel efficiency, perfect for long-distance adventure riding. That doesn’t mean it’s only good for off-road either.
For shorter riders, is the KTM 390 Adventure’s seat height off-putting?
13 January 2025 06:40
I’m short, although that hasn’t stopped me from learning to adapt. Stoppages were taken one foot at a time, with slight sliding off the seat as required. In fact, it has actually improved my all-round riding skills.
Will the KTM Adventure 390’s high-revving engine character perform in the adventure riding world?
13 January 2025 06:40
If it’s an off-road real adventure you’re after, the engine is the bike’s weakest point. Great for road trips, but it can feel a little out of place when things get tough off-road.
Is the KTM 390 Adventure actually an ‘adventure’ bike?
13 January 2025 06:40
While it’s not particularly practical, with the right mods, though, it can be a decent adventure bike. I’ve added crash bars, better tires, and a skid plate, and it’s turned the bike’s off-road ability on its head.
As long-distance tourers, what sets the KTM 390 Adventure apart from the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450?
13 January 2025 06:40
I've set up camp on both, and honestly, after touring on them both, I have more confidence in the KTM's more advanced electronics (like traction control and cornering ABS), especially in bad weather.
What new owners of the KTM 1190 Adventure might not recognize as one of its most underrated features?

ABS settings are totally customizable, and that’s a game changer. You really can fine-tune it to your different conditions.
What single mod or accessory makes the KTM 1190 Adventure experience a completely different one?

The way the bike handles off-road was completely changed by switching to Motoz Tractionator tires.
Is the KTM 1190 Adventure R the bike too much for the average beginner adventure rider?
13 January 2025 06:27
Absolutely not! I began on a 1190 R and never looked back. And it’s super manageable because of the electronics.
How reliable is the KTM 1190 Adventure in real-world terms for high-mileage riders?
13 January 2025 06:27
I’ve put 45,000 miles on my '14 1190, and it’s been rock solid except for needing 3 fuel pumps over the years.
How does the KTM 1190 Adventure R tackle technical off-road terrain like smaller ADV bikes?
13 January 2025 06:27
It’s a beast off-road, but you’ve got to be fit and have some experience to tackle it in the really technical stuff.
When will KTM release a street-legal version of the RC 8C?
13 January 2025 06:15
And even if they did, the bike would be so watered down to fit regulations that it wouldn't have been the same bike. Better to keep it track-only.
