What’s the difference between the 2023 KTM 790 Adventure and the original Austrian made version?

Question

The decision by KTM to reintroduce the 790 Adventure has started the rumor mill among the motorcycle-riding community. Made in India by CFMoto, the new model is drawing comparisons to its Austrian-made predecessor in terms of quality, performance, and the overall riding experience. Riders are wondering about changes in components, build quality, and if the new production location changes the character of the bike. This is particularly interesting for those thinking about upgrading or trying to decide between a used Austrian model and a new Indian-made one.

It’s lost some of that KTM raw feel. Feels more mainstream now.

@ravi-chauh · Answer

It has better quality control, the Indian-made version. Fewer issues reported so far.

@deepak-kum · Answer

The character of the engine is the same. You wouldn't know that it's made some place else if you didn't know.

@barun-kuma · Answer

Small details are noticeable. It feels cheaper with plastics on the new one.

@amar-jain · Answer

The bike is still a great bike, but I miss the "Made in Austria" badge.

@nimish-rai · Answer

The new one is actually more refined-feeling. They've worked out a few kinks.

@abhijeet-r · Answer

Quality feels a bit cheaper; quality is the same.

@ravi-chauh · Answer

Can't tell the difference. It rides just as well as my buddy's 2019 model.
