Did KTM price themselves out of the market with the 790 Adventure, or is it worth the premium over Japanese rivals?

The adventure bike market is a competitive one, with numerous manufacturers offering variations on the theme in an attempt to get the attention of and some money from riders. The KTM 790 Adventure’s value proposition can also be argued on as it typically commands a higher price tag than some of its Japanese counterparts. Its advanced technology, off-road prowess, and unique features are worth the price, supporters say; critics wonder if the high price buys you something real over more affordable options. Reliability, dealer support, and resale value are involved in the total value of the bike. Now let’s explore the views of riders who have taken these factors into consideration in their decision-making to purchase.

New is overpriced, but great value once initial depreciation is out of the way on the used market.

If you’ll use it to its full potential, the tech and performance justify the cost.

It’s expensive up front, but it retains its value well. Evens out in the long run.

It's in a class of its own. You can't compare to Japanese adventure bikes.

You get premium problems with a premium price. Go with known reliability.

If you are mostly on the road, it is not worth it. Japanese alternatives are better value for money.

At first I thought it was too much money, but after riding it I understand.

What you’re paying for is the brand and that KTM ‘Ready to Race’ DNA.

Overpriced for what you get. You get better reliability for less with Japanese bikes.

Absolutely worth it. The price alone is justified by the off-road capability.
