Can the KTM 790 Adventure be relied upon for long-distance touring?
Riders who want a bike that can do both on-road and off-road have fallen in love with the KTM 790 Adventure. But there's been some debate about its reliability, particularly for those planning extended trips or round-the-world journeys. For some, it’s the best-performing, most durable bike ever, but for others, it’s a bike with minor annoyances and major breakdowns. In all honesty, having just gotten into it myself, I feel I am in a neutral position and cannot answer this question. I personally own two e-scooters, and there are really more opinions going around that differ from my own. Factors like maintenance, your experience, and riding conditions all affect the views you feel on e-scooters. For those epic road trips we all dream about, let’s see what real riders have to say about the 790 Adventure’s reliability.
Mine has over 20,000 miles on it and no problems. Regular maintenance is key.
The first ride, my mine broke down. It wouldn't be trusted for long trips.
It's hit or miss. There are some bulletproof, and others are lemons. Luck of the draw.
If you are mechanically inclined, great for touring. Be prepared to wrench and carry tools.
2 years with no major problems, but there are small ones far more often than on my Japanese bikes.
I rode mine across Europe without a hitch. Just follow the service schedule to the letter.
The engine’s solid, but in terms of electrical, it’s a pain on longer trips.
