When will KTM release a street-legal version of the RC 8C?
A road-going version, however, has left fans wondering if the KTM RC 8C will ever make the jump from track only to the road. That speculation stems from KTM's past with the original RC8 superbike and the current trend of manufacturers building high-performance street bikes with obvious race blood. Enthusiasts argue over the market for such a bike and weigh up the costs of emission regulations, safety standards, and the dwindling supersport segment. A street-legal RC 8C RC could bring KTM back to the superbike market, some argue, while others think it would be better for KTM to stay away from the superbike game and focus on their strengths in other segments. It’s the discussion of what might have to give to make the RC 8C road-legal and whether or not it would be the RC 8C.
KTM's CEO literally said they won't make any more supersports for the street, no way. Apparently it's too dangerous.
They must be working on it right now. Probably the RC 8C is just a test bed for a future street bike.
If they don't make a street version, they'd be crazy. Definitely, there is a market for high-end sport bikes.
And even if they did, the bike would be so watered down to fit regulations that it wouldn't have been the same bike. Better to keep it track-only.
I hope they do! That level of performance would be awesome on a street-legal bike.
But they might release a tamer version based on the looks of the RC 8C, with a more street-friendly engine and ergonomics.
No, there would be a nightmare liability. And who wants to deal with all that power on public roads anyway?
If enough people bug KTM about it, they may choose to do things differently. Start a petition or something!
Maybe they'll run a few of the RC 8Cs on the street, like a homologation special. That would be sick!
