Discussions and Questions Bajaj Dominar - Page 2

Let’s take a look at how the Dominar 400 fares in terms of performance for everyday city commuting.
29 January 2025 08:14
In stop and go traffic, you definitely feel the weight. After a long commute my arms start to get tired. The trade off is it's not a smooth engine, and the seat isn't comfortable enough, but the smooth engine and comfortable seat make up for it. It's nice to have that power when you need to overtake, plus.
How does the Dominar 400's dual channel ABS system work in the real world of riding?
29 January 2025 08:14
I’ve ridden both with and without ABS, and I’d say the Dominar’s system is pretty good. It’s there when you need it but doesn’t get in the way when you’re riding spiritedly. It won't perform miracles, though.
Is Bajaj Dominar 400 just a marketing gimmick or really a power cruiser?
29 January 2025 08:14
It's definitely more the sports tourer than it is a cruiser. The engine character is more rev happy than torquey and the riding position is too aggressive. It's not necessarily a bad thing, though - it's great for carving corners and is still comfy enough for longer rides.
How does the Dominar 400 fare on long touring rides as opposed to purpose built tourers?
29 January 2025 08:14
Having owned both a Dominar and a Royal Enfield Himalayan, I feel the Dominar is actually better for tarmac touring. At high speeds it's more stable, and the engine isn't as stressed. Obviously the Himalayan wins off road, but for pure highway miles, I prefer the Dominar.
Is the Dominar 400’s build quality worth the price it commands in comparison to rivals?
29 January 2025 08:14
I have had my Dominar for two years and the quality has been good. No major issues, just regular maintenance. Of course, the plastics on some of the bikes feel a little cheap compared to more expensive bikes. You get the features, but it’s a trade off.
Can the Dominar 250 do two up and luggage?
29 January 2025 08:04
For two up riding, I think it’s one of the better options in its class. It has a long wheelbase which helps with stability, and even if the extra weight does slow the engine down a touch, it still pulls well. You should just be prepared for more frequent fuel stops.
Is the Dominar 250 built to last?
29 January 2025 08:04
It's been a mixed bag for me. The engine and chassis have been bulletproof but the electricals have been a problem and there are a few rust spots starting to appear. These have been hit or miss for Bajaj’s service in resolving.
What does the Dominar 250's weight do to its everyday usability?
29 January 2025 08:04
In my book though, that weight is actually a plus. The added mass helps take out bumps and potholes better than lighter bikes and it feels planted on the road. All you have to do is modify your riding style a little.
How good is the Dominar 250's engine refinement, really, as Bajaj claims?
29 January 2025 08:04
The first 1000 km was pretty rough for mine, but it's definitely gotten much smoother since then. I think a lot of those complaints are from people who didn’t break in their engines properly.
The real question is, is the Dominar 250 worth it for long distance touring?
29 January 2025 08:04
It depends on your riding style I’d say. But if you can live with a relaxed pace and don’t mind making frequent fuel stops, you’re okay with it. It’s not a bike to cover big distances quickly, at least not two up with luggage, as the power feels lacking.
Is the Dominar 200 a good bike for new riders?
29 January 2025 07:59
If only I had started on a Dominar 200. The first bike I had was a 150cc and I outgrew it in months. The Dominar would have been perfect, easy to learn on but with enough performance to keep things interesting.
How can the Dominar 200 be made to be as personal as one wants it to be?
29 January 2025 07:59
I have done some minor mods such as a tail tidy and LED auxiliary lights. That's enough to make the bike feel more 'mine', without getting carried away. Don't worry about performance mods, but be careful, they can void your warranty.
Is Bajaj Dominar 200 all the hype it is worth?
29 January 2025 07:59
There's a bit of hype, I think. Yes, the bike is a decent one, but it is not the revolution that Bajaj makes it out to be. At high speeds, it's annoyingly noisy and not very fuel efficient. If you don’t like the feel of the bike, you might be better off with a Yamaha FZ25 or even a Royal Enfield Classic 350.
How is the Dominar 200 off the road?
29 January 2025 07:59
I’ve ridden the Dominar 200 off road as well as the Hero Xpulse 200, and I can assure you the Dominar is not built for it. Rough terrain, standing up, it's too heavy and the ergonomics are all wrong. If you're looking for a bike to tour and off road, look elsewhere.
Can the Dominar 200 hold its own against bigger bikes on long trips?
29 January 2025 07:59
The Dominar 200 is a bike that I think is perfect for Indian touring conditions. It's fast enough for highways, nimble enough for city streets and efficient enough for long distances. It’s not as fast as a 400cc+ bike but do you really need to go that fast on our roads?
