Can the Dominar 250 do two up and luggage?

The Dominar 250 is often touted as a motorcycle that can be ridden solo and on trips with a pillion. Its performance and handling characteristics can be quite different when loaded with a passenger and luggage, however. When the bike is fully loaded what they all matter is suspension setup and power delivery and braking performance. Some riders find the bike underpowered or unstable with a pillion on board, while other riders feel that it can cope with the extra weight. And, of course, luggage capacity and mounting options. Can the Dominar 250 handle two-up touring? What are some modifications or adjustments that can be done to help its performance in these environments? How does it compare to other bikes in its class as far as carrying capacity and rider and passenger comfort?

It's surprisingly capable two-up. While the extra weight pushes the suspension, the power is good for cruising. But don't expect to be breaking any speed records loaded up.

I find it has a bit of trouble carrying a pillion and luggage, especially on inclines. You really feel the weight of the engine, and it feels strained. Long trips aren’t ideal but it’s doable.

It's all about managing expectations. It’s a great weekend getaway with a light pillion. If you need more grunt for extended touring with a heavy passenger and full luggage you may want something a little more powerful.

I've done quite a few trips two up and that's been fine. The trick is to tune the preload and tire pressures at the rear. Also, spend a bit on some good luggage solutions – the stock grab rails aren't great for securing bags.

On a day trip it was comfortable enough as a pillion, but anything longer and I start to feel the lack of space and support. Two people are a bit tight in the seat.

But it does ride two up better than I expected. With the chassis fully loaded it still feels stable. It's power wise, you just need to be a bit more proactive with your overtakes and use the gears.

For two up riding, I think it’s one of the better options in its class. It has a long wheelbase which helps with stability, and even if the extra weight does slow the engine down a touch, it still pulls well. You should just be prepared for more frequent fuel stops.
