Maruti Swift RS Edition

About
The Maruti Swift RS Edition, although an older model, showcased Maruti Suzukis ability to create a sporty and stylish variant of the popular Swift. The RS Edition featured a unique exterior design with elements like a honeycomb-pattern grille, longer LED headlamps, and new fog lamps, giving it a distinct look. The interior, while largely familiar, had some premium touches. The engine, though not as powerful as some might have hoped, provided good low-rev performance and was economical. The current 2024 Maruti Swift has built upon these strengths, offering a more refined driving experience with improved safety features like six airbags, ISOFIX anchors, and enhanced suspension for better ride quality. The new Swift also boasts a more premium cabin, comfortable seating, and adequate boot space, making it a well-rounded choice for both city driving and occasional road trips.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Maruti Swift RS Edition is a compelling package that blends style, performance, and economy, making it a strong contender in its segment. While the RS Edition is not a current model, its legacy highlights what Maruti Suzuki can achieve when they focus on both aesthetics and performance. The sporty character of the RS Edition, with its distinctive styling elements, sets it apart from the standard Swift. The engine performance, though not overly powerful, is more than adequate for everyday driving, and the economical price point makes it an attractive option for those seeking a fun-to-drive vehicle without breaking the bank. However, its important to note that the current 2024 Maruti Swift has evolved significantly, offering improved safety features, better ride quality, and enhanced performance, which might make the newer model a more appealing choice for many buyers.
Price
The Maruti Swift RS Edition, being a limited edition model from 2013, does not have a current market price. However, to give you an idea, the 2013 model was priced around Rs 6.8 lakh to Rs 7.2 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on the variant. If you were to consider the current 2024 Maruti Swift, the prices start from around Rs 6.1 lakh for the base model and go up to Rs 9.1 lakh for the top variant (ex-showroom, Delhi). On-road prices would add another Rs 1-2 lakh depending on the state and local taxes, insurance, and other costs. The pricing of the Swift remains competitive, making it a viable option in the compact car segment.
Latest Updates
Thursday, 17 October 2024 07:48 AM Maruti Suzuki has introduced the Swift Blitz Edition, which, although not an RS Edition, adds a range of accessories to the standard Swift. This includes a rear underbody spoiler, a spoiler on top of the boot, LED fog lamps, and new seat covers. This move could hint at future special editions like an RS Edition. I think such editions can significantly boost the cars appeal.
Thursday, 17 October 2024 07:55 PM Maruti Suzuki has announced discounts of up to Rs 50,000 on the new Swift, which could be a strategy to clear inventory before introducing special editions like an RS Edition. This move indicates the companys flexibility in pricing and promotions. I think such discounts can help generate buzz around new variants.
Thursday, 16 May 2024 10:41 PM The 2024 Maruti Swift boasts a new design with sharp cuts and creases, particularly on the sides and hatch. An RS Edition could further accentuate these design elements for a more aggressive look. I believe the current design is a good starting point for a sportier version.
Thursday, 16 May 2024 12:31 PM The new Swift has seen a slight increase in length and a decrease in height compared to its predecessor. An RS Edition could further tweak these dimensions for better aerodynamics and performance. I think such tweaks can make a significant difference in how the car handles.
Friday, 10 May 2024 12:58 PM The 2024 Maruti Swift features a new 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine, which could be a strong foundation for any future performance-oriented RS Edition. This engine delivers 80bhp and 112Nm of torque, and it has seen a 12% reduction in emissions. I believe this engines efficiency and performance make it a great candidate for a sportier variant.
Friday, 10 May 2024 07:26 AM The new Swift comes with enhanced safety features, including six airbags as standard across all variants. If an RS Edition were to be launched, it would likely retain or even enhance these safety features. I think this focus on safety is a significant selling point for any performance-oriented car.
Friday, 10 May 2024 09:12 AM Maruti Suzuki has emphasized the Swifts fuel efficiency, with the manual variant offering 24.8 kmpl and the AMT variant offering 24.75 kmpl. An RS Edition would need to balance performance with fuel efficiency, which could be an interesting challenge. I believe achieving this balance is crucial for market success.
Friday, 10 May 2024 06:31 AM Maruti Suzukis commitment to sustainability is evident with the new Swifts reduced emissions. An RS Edition would need to align with these environmental goals while delivering on performance. I believe this balance is essential for modern cars.
Thursday, 09 May 2024 11:22 PM The new Swift is available in nine colors, including three dual-tone options. An RS Edition would likely offer exclusive color schemes to differentiate it from the standard model. I believe unique colors can make a car stand out in a crowded market.
Friday, 10 May 2024 12:23 AM The 2024 Swift features a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system and other advanced features like wireless phone charging and cruise control. An RS Edition might include additional tech features or performance-oriented apps. I think integrating technology that enhances performance and comfort is key.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 12:34 AM The mileage of the Maruti Swift RS Edition, while not explicitly stated for this specific model, can be inferred from the standard Swifts performance. The current 2024 Maruti Swift offers an impressive mileage of around 25 kmpl for the manual version, according to Marutis claims. This makes it an economical choice for daily driving, especially considering the rising fuel costs in India. The actual mileage may vary based on driving conditions, but it is generally expected to be above 20 kmpl, which is quite satisfactory for a car in this segment.
