About
The Chevrolet Sail U-VA L (Petrol) is a hatchback designed with the Indian market in mind, offering a blend of space, comfort, and practicality. Powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine producing 85 bhp, it is well-suited for city driving due to its responsive low-speed performance and linear power delivery. The car features a five-speed manual gearbox, which, although smooth, requires some effort in gear shifts. The interior is spacious, with good legroom and comfort for both front and rear passengers. The suspension setup, including McPherson Struts at the front and a Twist axle at the rear, provides a comfortable ride over Indian road conditions. However, the exterior design is somewhat bland and lacks the modern appeal of some of its competitors. Overall, the Sail U-VA L (Petrol) is a solid choice for those prioritizing comfort, space, and everyday usability over high-performance driving.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Chevrolet Sail U-VA L (Petrol) is a decent option for those looking for a reliable and spacious hatchback, but it falls short in several key areas. The 1.2-litre petrol engine, while adequate for city driving, lacks the punch needed for brisk acceleration and feels underpowered, especially when the air conditioner is on. The engines refinement is also a concern, as it becomes noisy and buzzy beyond 4000 rpm. However, the cars ride quality and handling are commendable, making it comfortable for daily commutes. The gearbox, though smooth, requires some effort and can be a bit unfocussed. Overall, its a practical choice for family use but not ideal for those seeking spirited driving.
Price
When the Chevrolet Sail U-VA L (Petrol) was available in the Indian market, its ex-showroom price started at around 4.99 lakhs for the base variant and went up to 6.41 lakhs for the top LT variant. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, would typically range from 5.5 lakhs to 7.5 lakhs, depending on the state and local taxes. Given its pricing, the Sail U-VA L (Petrol) was competitively positioned against other entry-level hatchbacks, offering a balance of features, space, and affordability. However, the brands image and after-sales service were significant factors influencing the purchase decision.

Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 11:40 PM
The mileage of the Chevrolet Sail U-VA L (Petrol) is a mixed bag. In ideal city driving conditions, you can expect around 12-13 kmpl, while on the highway, it can stretch to about 15-16 kmpl. However, real-world usage often yields lower figures, typically around 10-12 kmpl in city driving and 13-14 kmpl on the highway. This makes it less fuel-efficient compared to some of its diesel counterparts but still manageable for everyday use.

While buying a car we have to consider sum total of it like space, comfort, safety, brakes, engine, mileage, suspension, ingress and egress, driver's view, feeling of fatigue during long drive. I don't feel pain in the back and in neck while driving 6-7 hrs at a stretch. My age is 50 plus. So I think this is the one of the best hatchbacks.
