The 2015 Yamaha SZ-RR Matt Green, a 150cc commuter from Yamaha, has been discontinued in India. The company's website still lists the bike even though production has been stopped, and it will remain there as long as the dealers' supplies last. The manufacturer had ignored updating the bike with ABS even until the deadline of 1 April, after which the government imposed the safety function in bike over 125cc, therefore it was previously predicted that the machine will be withdrawn.

Saturday, 30 November 2019 07:43 AM The Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0, including the Matt Green edition, has been discontinued in India since November 30, 2019. This decision was part of Yamahas strategy to focus on premium motorcycles. I think this move might have disappointed many fans of the SZ-RR, but it opens the door for new and improved models.
Friday, 26 July 2019 06:32 PM In 2019, there were speculations that the Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 might receive a single-channel ABS unit to comply with upcoming safety norms, which would have added around Rs 5,000 to the bikes price. However, this update never materialized as the model was discontinued. I believe adding ABS would have been a great safety feature, but it seems that wasnt in the cards.
Monday, 20 October 2014 07:17 PM Yamaha launched the SZ-RR Version 2.0 in a new Matt Green paint scheme, among other colors, in 2014. This update included cosmetic changes like new shrouds on the fuel tank and a fresh instrument cluster. I think the Matt Green edition was a stylish addition to the lineup.
Monday, 20 October 2014 12:11 AM The Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 was equipped with the new Blue Core technology, which improved mileage by 11% and maintained similar torque levels despite a slight reduction in power. This made it a fuel-efficient option in the 150cc commuter segment. I believe this technology was a significant step forward for Yamaha in terms of performance and efficiency.
Monday, 20 October 2014 04:05 AM The Matt Green edition of the Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 was a limited edition color that commanded a premium price. This special color was part of the bikes appeal, offering buyers a unique look. I think the limited edition status added to its allure, making it a sought-after model for some enthusiasts.

Bad buying experience with my Yamaha SZ

Divya Gupta | 2 years ago

I had a bad buying experience with my Yamaha SZ. I ordered a certain color, but did not receive it and had to be forgiven by the dealer. The riding experience on the SZ R was ok on straight roads, but even worse on hilly roads. The initial pickup was good, but after that it felt like riding an old bull cart. Once we reached top gear 5th, it felt like a panther. In India, we cannot ride for more than 15 minutes in top gear unless we are travelling on a national highway. The looks of the bike were average, but the performance was good and the silencer had a great sound.

The mileage was terrible - 50 to drop off 25 kmpl in one year. The service from Yamaha was ok, but the parts were expensive and we had to argue a lot to get the warranty of one year. The pros of the bike were the low price, sporty look, and light weight. The cons were very bad mileage, less power, and higher maintenance.

Say NO to Yamaha SZ

Charu Garg | 2 years ago

When I bought my new Yamaha SZ, I was initially happy with my purchase. Initially, the ride quality was good and I had no problems. However, after a few thousand kilometers, I started to experience some issues with the engine. It became increasingly noisy, and I had to change the carburetor at 10000 km. Even after getting the service done on time, the service center technician was unable to identify the problems. The mechanics were inexperienced and could not provide a proper diagnosis. This was not the experience I expected from a Yamaha product. I will never buy a Yamaha again.

Doesn't have a kick start and the headlight is not powerful

Gazal Singla | 2 years ago

I bought the Yamaha SZ-R in December 2011 and I was very pleased with its sporty look. I was especially impressed with the comfort of the ride and the overall riding experience is quite remarkable. The bike's performance is good and I have taken many long rides since purchasing it. I have gone from Kalyan to Ratnagiri (about 800 kms), Kalyan to Mahabaleshwar (about 700 kms), and Kalyan to Nashik-Shirdi (about 700 kms) and I have driven all of these distances without any problems. My previous bike caused me back pain, so I have found the SZ-R to be a great relief in that respect. My daily travel is about 20 kilometers and I'm getting an average mileage of 40-45 kilometers in the city and 45-50 kilometers for long-distance rides.

The only downsides of the bike is that it doesn't have a kick start and the headlight is not as powerful as I would like. The battery also got damaged after 18 months, but I replaced it with an Exide battery and it has worked well since then. After 5 years, the bike has started to give some problems, with both the front and rear suspension getting damaged and the tyres losing their shape and grip. I changed them with Ceat tyres and since then there have been no punctures. Compared to other bikes of the same period, I think my Yamaha SZ-R

An average bike

Riding is fine as far as you do not go beyond 80kmph. The bike is able to reach 115kmph without a pillion crouched down. But at that point you will feel how hard the bike struggles to maintain the speed. Untill 80 kmph the bike is able to hold speeds for long commutes. You will feel that the bike lacks a 6th gear on the highway. I haven't tested the mileage but i believe it returns about 45-50 kmpl.

The downside is that there is no kill-switch. It even lacks a pass light.

I have faced the issue of the speedometer cable getting ripped every 500 km I drove. Replacing it is a waste of time and you won't be able to keep the correct odometer reading.

Not a wise decision to purchase the Yamaha SZ

Deepak Kumar | 2 years ago

After reading this review, it is clear that the Yamaha SZ is not a good buy. The user has experienced several issues with the bike in the two years that they have owned it, including having to replace the meter wire, clutch cable, and accelerator cable multiple times. The user has also reported that the mileage is very low and that the chain sprocket is giving them problems. Additionally, they have indicated that the exchange amount offered is too low. Overall, based on this review, it is not a wise decision to purchase the Yamaha SZ .
