The manufacturer had ignored updating the bike with ABS even until the deadline of 1 April, after which the government imposed the safety function in bike over 125cc, therefore it was previously predicted that the machine will be withdrawn.
The Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0, including the Matt Green edition, has been discontinued in India since November 30, 2019. This decision was part of Yamahas strategy to focus on premium motorcycles. I think this move might have disappointed many fans of the SZ-RR, but it opens the door for new and improved models.
In 2019, there were speculations that the Yamaha SZ-RR Version 2.0 might receive a single-channel ABS unit to comply with upcoming safety norms, which would have added around Rs 5,000 to the bikes price. However, this update never materialized as the model was discontinued. I believe adding ABS would have been a great safety feature, but it seems that wasnt in the cards.
