Recent news and announcements
The Yamaha Alpha was discontinued in April 2020 as it did not comply with the new BS6 emission norms. Moreover, the manufacturer moved from 110cc to 125cc scooter segment after the industry transitioned to the new emission norms. Yamaha last updated the Alpha in 2019. The scooter received a maintenance-free battery and Unified Braking System (UBS), which is Yamaha's marketing term for combined braking system.
The Yamaha Alpha scooter was discontinued in April 2020 due to its inability to comply with the new BS6 emission norms. This move was part of the industrys transition to stricter emission standards. I believe this was a necessary step to ensure environmental compliance, even though it meant the end of a popular model.
In 2019, Yamaha updated the Alpha scooter with a maintenance-free battery and Unified Braking System (UBS), which is their term for a combined braking system. This update also included a front disc brake variant and new color schemes. I think these updates were a good attempt to enhance safety and appeal before the scooters eventual discontinuation.
The Yamaha Alpha featured several best-in-class attributes, including the largest under-seat storage, a long and comfortable seat, and a large floorboard. It was powered by a 113cc engine using Blue Core technology, which provided decent performance and fuel efficiency of 66 kmpl. I believe these features made it a practical choice for Indian families.
Prior to its discontinuation, the Yamaha Alpha received a price hike due to the addition of UBS and other safety features. The disc brake variant saw an increase of Rs 600, while the drum brake variant saw a hike of Rs 400. I think this was a reasonable increase given the enhanced safety features.

Disappointed in the bike's performance
Summary
I had high expectations of the Yamaha Alpha whe
I had high expectations of the Yamaha Alpha when I bought it three months ago. Unfortunately, I have been disappointed in the bike's performance. The mileage is very poor, only giving approximately 20-25 km per litre. The engine is very loud when travelling at speeds below 40 km/h and the fuel indicator is unreliable, often showing empty even when there is still fuel in the tank. The disc brake is also not very effective. In hindsight, I should have gone for the Honda Activa instead.

Reliable family scooter with excellent mileage
Summary
Yamaha Alpha has proven itself to be a reliable
Yamaha Alpha has proven itself to be a reliable family scooter with its excellent mileage of 62km/l and a good design. Its headlight, large and comfortable seat, and 21 liter storage capacity make it a great choice for those who don't want to worry about carrying extra baggage. Its engine is powered by 113cc air cooled with continuously variable transmission for smooth acceleration; it may not be the fastest scooter but it does provide a comfortable ride. Its light weight 104 kg and smooth handling make it perfect for riding in the streets and in the traffic. It also has telescopic forks and firm suspension for a safe and secure ride. All in all, Yamaha Alpha is a great choice for those who are looking for an efficient and reliable family scooter.

Vibration and fuel efficiency are major drawbacks
Summary
The Yamaha Alpha provides a stylish design, but
The Yamaha Alpha provides a stylish design, but the quality of the plastic used in the body parts is quite cheap. The engine performance is rather poor, and it is not very fuel efficient either. The ride quality and handling are decent, but there is a lot of vibration in the engine, making it difficult to ride in peace. The brakes are fairly good as well.
The main areas of improvement for the Yamaha Alpha would be the quality of the body parts, its fuel efficiency, and the engine vibration and RPM.
In conclusion, the Yamaha Alpha looks great, but its vibration and fuel efficiency are major drawbacks.

Yamaha Alpha is a good quality product, perfect for families
Summary
The Yamaha Alpha is a decent scooter with an at
The Yamaha Alpha is a decent scooter with an attractive dual tone paint scheme and smooth engine. It has good fuel economy and ample boot space, however the engine lacks power and it can be a bit slow from 0-30kmph. The handle doesn't have a brake lock, and the seat is big but not very comfortable. It handles nicely on city roads and highways below 80kmph.
Overall, the Yamaha Alpha is a good quality product, perfect for families. It could be improved with a 125cc engine to give it more power.

The Yamaha Alpha is a great bike, and I had a very positive buying experience. The wait for a fancy number registration was worth it, as I was never pressured to make an immediate purchase. I've driven the Alpha up hills and never felt uncomfortable, and the performance has been great. When compared to other scooters in its class, the Alpha may not be as stylish or have the best mileage, but it does have a long seat and a comfortable ride. The engine has also held up quite well, and I've had no issues since I service it every 10 months. The only real downsides are the mileage, style, and ground clearance.
