TVS Scooty Streak (Old Model) Review
Quick Review by Maxabout Team
After the huge success of Scooty Pep Plus, TVS has launched another variant of Scooty known as Scooty Streak. This variant will take on the new stylish competitors. Does it have the potential to mark its presence in our Indian market? Let’s find out.
TVS India has launched new colour combination of Scooty Streak and is promoting it as all-new Scooty Streak – Sinfully Black. It features all-black theme with option of five different shades/graphics. The new black theme gels very well with the design of Scooty Streak and has enhanced the looks further and makes it the best looking Scooterette in its class.
Exterior
This is the most stylish variant of Scooty till now. The new panels look extremely sharp and pointed. The nose of the Scooty Streak now gets new prominent lines and gives it an attractive look with new stretched clear lens indicators. The air-inlets just below the headlights are very similar to Pep plus but now they are more noticeable due to their big size. The new color schemes also add visual charm to this Scooty. Streak features a new age headlight which is stretched on both sides and differentiates it from its younger sibling. TVS has also introduced new black colored cowl and integrated visor. The visor has been raised and complements the new headlight. Rear view mirrors are also black in color and look aerodynamic with sharp styling. The up-swept side panels look cool with new graphics and color. The small silencer and heat muffler of Streak are similar to that of Pep Plus. TVS has restyled the rear cowl of Scooty and it’s the most attractive part of Scooty Streak. The fuel cap sits on the top of its rear cowl which means you don’t have to get down every time while getting it refilled. Just below its rear cowl, Scooty Streak has its LED tail light which comes with integrated clear lens indicators. It’s a very stylish tail lamp and can easily grab attention on roads. The restyled fender is longer and wider than before and suits the rear styling.
Instrument Console
TVS Scooty Streak features a new V-shaped instrument console with all essential indicators. It has an analogue speedometer, odometer and fuel gauge. Similar to Pep Plus, you will notice a mobile charging point in Streak also.
Engine and Gearbox
TVS Scooty Streak shares its engine specifications with its younger sibling. It’s powered by a single-cylinder 87.8cc engine which generates a maximum power of 5 bhp at 6500 rpm. This 4-stroke, air-cooled engine has an automatic transmission with a torque sensor. The maximum torque output of 5.8 Nm arrives at 4000 rpm.
Acceleration and Performance
There is hardly any difference in the performance of Streak and Pep plus. TVS should have increased the power output of this engine. It feels underpowered if you have to travel long distance. Streak can hardly reach the top speed of 75km/hr although it’s good for city usage. Despite being an automatic machine, it never feels short of power at slow rpms. It responses really well in city traffic and can easily reach the speed of 40-50km/hr. Thanks to its light weight; Streak manages a respectable power to weight ratio. The torque sensor helps it to move fast as it can adjust torque delivery itself. The refinement level is also satisfactory and it remains calm and relaxed. There are very less vibrations and engine noise at high speeds.
Mileage
Expect TVS Scooty Streak to return a mileage of around 60-65km/ltr in city traffic while on long stretches these figures may increase by 5-7km/ltr.
Comfort while Driving
TVS has placed a highly cushioned seat on Scooty Streak. It’s a new seat which gives you optimum comfort. The handle also offers a nice palm grip and feels vibration less. TVS has worked on the knee room also and Streak features nice space for your knees along with wide floor board. It can easily carry two adults.
Storage Space and Safety Features
TVS Scooty Streak has nice amount of under seat storage space which can easily carry your helmet and other stuff. It also features a lockable glove box at its front which is quite spacious. Apart from these, it has a bag hook just above its wide floor board which can even carry a full size bag. Safety features in Streak includes powerful headlight and new anti-skid tyres for strong road grip.
Suspension and Brakes
TVS has equipped Scooty Streak with new and powerful suspension and braking system. It features light weight telescopic forks at its front while it has single coil spring at the back. Both tyres of Streak come fitted with drum brakes of 110mm.
Ride and Handling
TVS has used the same frame of Pep plus for Streak which means there is no change in its wheelbase (1230mm), weight (96kgs) and ground clearance of 135mm. Still, there is significant difference in the ride and handling of these both variants; Streak feels more comfortable and confident than its younger sibling. It features wide tyres and big drum brakes which improves its ride quality. It stays under control even at the time of sudden braking. The wide tyres make sure that at high speeds and sharp corners, Streak remains grounded. Its light weight and handling is a boon in city traffic. You can park it anywhere like a bicycle. It can easily be steered through tight spaces. Scooty Streak can digest every pothole except for the bigger ones. The low ground clearance is a matter of concern though as nasty potholes and high obstructions can easily bother you. The all over ride and handling of Streak is quite acceptable according to its weight.
Tyre Size, Shades and Variants
TVS Scooty Streak has wide (90x90) front and rear tyres fitted in 10 inch alloy wheels. It’s available in five shades and electric start is a standard feature in Streak.
Shades
TVS Scooty Streak is available in 5 exciting colours: Red, Blue, Black, Pink and Mauve. The new TVS Scooty Streak – Sinfully Black is now available in an all-black colour with the option of 5 different graphics.
Verdict
TVS Scooty Streak is priced at INR 44K (ex-showroom, Delhi (approx., may vary)). This variant is around 2K costlier than Scooty Pep plus. TVS has priced this Scooty very close to the grown up scooters like Honda Dio and Activa which are far more powerful and comfortable than Streak. We agree it looks stylish and offers impressive fuel economy but what about its small engine. It can’t match the ride and performance quality of Hero Pleasure which is also a female oriented scooter and is available almost at the same price. TVS should have kept its price low to make its successful in our market.

User Reviews for TVS Scooty (2019)
Wrong decision of my life
It looks like a plastic toy. Most of the scooter's parts are made up of fibre and plastic. The fuel tank is fibre made which is not safe. The main drawback of this scooty is low mileage offering approx 35 to 40 kmpl on tough roads. Don't apply brakes often, because high acceleration and sudden brakes would consume the fuel more. Having tight brakes can be dangerous and it can easily skid. The looks can give you a confidence on road but actually it does not have the standard to run on road with other scooter. The under seat storage is pretty decent and can accommodate limited things. It is a perfect companion for girls due to its light weight which makes it easy to handle and one can easily take this scooter in tough areas. I don't have any complaints regarding engine and so is the price.
Best Features: Lightweight
Pros: Lightweight, smooth engine, affordable
Cons: Bad build quality, low mileage, low ground clearance, weak braking system
Mileage is just 35 Kmpl
I bought this scooty six months ago. I am having a satisfactory experience till now. The engine gives the mileage of about 35 kmpl that tends to be disappointing for me. On the positive side, it is light in weight and gives out an attractive sight. Coming onto the turn offs I feel It has a poor built quality, the body seems to look like I am carrying a toy. poor maintenance and service .
Best Features: No best feature.....
Pros: Light weight, attractive look
Cons: Poor built quality, maintenance
