USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Hero Duet VX is a solid choice for those seeking a reliable and comfortable scooter, especially in the Indian market. With its sturdy metal body and contemporary styling, it stands out in the unisex scooter segment. The scooter offers a stable and composed ride, thanks to its telescopic front suspension and hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. The well-padded seat and ample storage space, including an underseat boot light and mobile charging port, make it a practical option for daily commuting. However, the CVT transmission can feel sluggish beyond 60kmph, and the lack of alloy wheels and advanced switchgear might be a drawback for some. Overall, it is a value-for-money scooter that balances performance, comfort, and fuel efficiency.
Price
The Hero Duet VX, although discontinued, was priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for the Duet VX was around Rs 49,900. When considering the on-road price, which includes additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other local taxes, it would typically range from Rs 57,000 to Rs 62,000, depending on the state and local regulations. This pricing makes it an attractive option for those looking for a reliable scooter without breaking the bank. However, since it is discontinued, buyers might need to explore other current models or consider purchasing a used Duet VX.
Latest Updates
Monday, 11 November 2024 11:56 AM Hero MotoCorp is expected to launch the Hero Duet Electric, a fully electric version of the scooter, although the exact launch date is still unknown. The new model will use a 5KV electric motor producing 14 Nm of torque and will retain the mechanical components of the original Duet. I think this electric version could be a game-changer if priced competitively, around Rs 52,000.
Saturday, 04 April 2020 03:09 AM The Hero Duet VX, a popular scooter in its time, has been discontinued in India since April 2020. The decision was largely due to low sales, despite its features like an all-metal body, external fuel filling, and a mobile charging port. I think this move was necessary for Hero MotoCorp to focus on more successful models.
Tuesday, 01 October 2019 10:11 AM Before its discontinuation, the Hero Duet VX was priced at around Rs 52,330 (ex-showroom) and came with a 110.9 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, producing 8.31 bhp and 8 Nm of torque. It also featured tubeless tyres and an Integrated Braking System. I believe these specs made it a competitive option in the 110cc scooter segment.
Wednesday, 03 February 2016 03:06 PM There has been speculation about a potential hybrid-electric model, the Hero Duet E, which was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2016. This model could offer a range of 65 km and a 0-60 kmph time of 6.5 seconds. I think if Hero can bring this to market with fast charging and a competitive price, it could regain some market share.
Thursday, 15 October 2015 02:23 PM The original Hero Duet VX was known for its stylish design, with features like a V-shaped chrome strip on the front apron and integrated headlamp and turn signals. It was available in six different color options, making it a visually appealing choice. I believe the design was one of its strong points, even if sales didnt reflect that.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 06:12 AM The Hero Duet VX boasts an impressive mileage, which is a crucial factor for many Indian buyers. With a claimed mileage of 63kmpl, it is one of the more fuel-efficient scooters in its class. In real-world conditions, especially in city traffic, it can easily deliver around 55-60 kmpl, making it an economical choice for daily commuting. This mileage, combined with its reliable engine, makes the Duet VX a good option for those concerned about running costs.

Hero Duet VX Review

21 Jun, 2016 06:13 AM

Quick Review by Maxabout Team

Hero is on a launching spree and its latest target is the highly growing scooter market of India. The much awaited Hero Duet is finally here with its strong list of advantages over the traditional scooters of India. Hero has finally changed the path and got its new and exclusive design for an entry level scooter of India. Hero Duet is priced at Rs. 48,400 for the LX variant and the VX variant is available for 49,900. These prices are ex-showroom Bangalore.

Design & Style

The scooter gets a non-traditional design from its side view, slowly changing to a common pattern followed at the front. The major distinguishing factor comes out to be its chrome V-lining in the center body. The forks are hidden below the front mudguard and the whole metal body looks perfectly strong and shiny from its first view. The addition of body color to the rear view mirrors makes them more impressive than normal black colored units on traditional scooters.

Engine & Gearbox

The engine of the new Duet is same as that of the newly launched Maestro Edge. The motor is a 110.9 cc, single cylinder unit producing 8.31 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 8.3 NM @ 6,500 rpm. The engine is mated to an automatic transmission. The new scooter gets a 115 kg, making it heavier than the normal scooters in the market. The same is due to its metal body, increasing the weight and reducing the performance values. It returns a company claimed mileage of 63.8 kmpl.

Braking & Suspension

The new Hero Duet comes with a 130 mm drum brake for the front and rear wheel. The suspension on the scooter is telescopic forks for the front and monoshock absorber at the rear. The scooter gets a better setup than the competition as many of the offerings are still selling with older technologies and bigger price tags.

Comfort and Safety

Getting a metal body would make it feel premium to many traditional automatic scooters and the comfort on the scooter is further raised with the availability of mobile charging socket, under seat lamp and luggage hooks. The safety is handled by integrated braking system for efficient sudden braking and tubeless tyres for lesser flat out moments. Immobilizer from the Maestro Edge is replaced by a combination lock in the Duet. The raised weight of the scooter provides a more stable ride but would affect the fuel efficiency of the Duet.

Variants & Shades

According to the new classification, the Duet is available in LX and VX variants, providing more features on the top VX trim. The shades for the Duet are Candy Blazing Red, Nature Green Metallic, Pearl Silver White, Grace Grey Metallic, Matt Vernier Grey and Panther Black Metallic.

Ex-showroom Price

Hero Duet is priced at Rs. 48,400 for the LX variant and the VX variant is available for 49,900. These prices are ex-showroom Bangalore.

1. Plastic material for motor cover makes air intake, due to this sand, dust, water goes in and jam the bearing, gears, etc... You must clean thison every service which cost 1500 approximately. 2. While going on wet roads, wet sand splashing on front cover, Headlights and even on driver helmet glass. 3. Nice riding experience on turning.

I purchased in December But Unable to drive in the traffic because very hot air is coming and unable to put my leg on ground at traffic signal. I complained about this problem to Hero Motors dealer Sri Venkateshwara motors at Hyderabad. After two days (they kept my vehicle with them) they have given three best suggestions to me for avoiding the heat. They also told that this vehicle design is like that and they can t help in this matter the best suggestions given by them as 1. I HAVE TO STOP THE ENGINE AT TRAFFIC SIGNAL. [BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO TELL HOW I DRIVE WHEN THE TRAFFIC IS MOVING VERY SLOW] 2.INSTED OF PUTTING LEFT LEG ON THE GROUND [AT TRAFFIC SIGNAL] I HAVE PUT RIGHT LEG. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT 3RD SUGGETION IS I HAVE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH SHOES NOT WITH CHAPPAL . SO FRIENDS PLEASE DO NOT DEPEND ON TEST DRIVE PLEASE DRIVE AT LEAST FIVE KM SO THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO SEE THE PERFORMENCE OF THE VEHICLE

Best Features: Looks good, features good

Pros: HERO THE INDIAN CO.

Cons: Unable to Drive in Traffic more than five kms

Hero Duet is a look alike of Honda Activa and comes with almost the same performance parameters. The lower price point of 48K might prove to be its selling point, especially in the rural areas.
