Hero Duet VX Review
Overview
Hero is on a launching spree and its latest target is the highly growing scooter market of India. The much awaited Hero Duet is finally here with its strong list of advantages over the traditional scooters of India. Hero has finally changed the path and got its new and exclusive design for an entry level scooter of India. Hero Duet is priced at Rs. 48,400 for the LX variant and the VX variant is available for 49,900. These prices are ex-showroom Bangalore.
Design & Style
The scooter gets a non-traditional design from its side view, slowly changing to a common pattern followed at the front. The major distinguishing factor comes out to be its chrome V-lining in the center body. The forks are hidden below the front mudguard and the whole metal body looks perfectly strong and shiny from its first view. The addition of body color to the rear view mirrors makes them more impressive than normal black colored units on traditional scooters.
Engine & Gearbox
The engine of the new Duet is same as that of the newly launched Maestro Edge. The motor is a 110.9 cc, single cylinder unit producing 8.31 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 8.3 NM @ 6,500 rpm. The engine is mated to an automatic transmission. The new scooter gets a 115 kg, making it heavier than the normal scooters in the market. The same is due to its metal body, increasing the weight and reducing the performance values. It returns a company claimed mileage of 63.8 kmpl.
Braking & Suspension
The new Hero Duet comes with a 130 mm drum brake for the front and rear wheel. The suspension on the scooter is telescopic forks for the front and monoshock absorber at the rear. The scooter gets a better setup than the competition as many of the offerings are still selling with older technologies and bigger price tags.
Comfort and Safety
Getting a metal body would make it feel premium to many traditional automatic scooters and the comfort on the scooter is further raised with the availability of mobile charging socket, under seat lamp and luggage hooks. The safety is handled by integrated braking system for efficient sudden braking and tubeless tyres for lesser flat out moments. Immobilizer from the Maestro Edge is replaced by a combination lock in the Duet. The raised weight of the scooter provides a more stable ride but would affect the fuel efficiency of the Duet.
Variants & Shades
According to the new classification, the Duet is available in LX and VX variants, providing more features on the top VX trim. The shades for the Duet are Candy Blazing Red, Nature Green Metallic, Pearl Silver White, Grace Grey Metallic, Matt Vernier Grey and Panther Black Metallic.
Ex-showroom Price
Hero Duet is priced at Rs. 48,400 for the LX variant and the VX variant is available for 49,900. These prices are ex-showroom Bangalore.
