TVS Phoenix Review
Overview
TVS has been struggling from a long time to be in the list of top manufacturers of the country. No doubt it has provided the Apache series which is performance oriented and Star series, which focuses economy, the two wheeler giant wished to compete with a combination of both. Here they present the Phoenix 125.
Design and Style
With a very simple looking design, 2015 Phoenix 125 attracts the buyers who love beauty with simplicity, although the missing curves are compensated with the help of attractive body graphics on the fuel tank. The newly designed disc brake is very nice looking and add up a distinctive style statement.
Instrument Console
Phoenix features a fully digital speedometer which looks very premium. Digital fuel indicator and odometer is also in the same pod and provide a very delightful experience while riding.
Engine and Performance
2015 TVS Phoenix features a 124.5 cc air-cooled 4 stroke-single cylinder engine which is capable of producing 10.8 Bhp @ 8000 rpm and a torque of 10.8 Nm @ 5500 rpm. It is mated to a 4 speed constant mesh manual gearbox with a wet multi plate clutch.
Comfort while Riding
The 2015 Phoenix 125 picks up at lower speeds in higher gears. No need of gear shifting at regular intervals while cruising in the city and the ride becomes very exciting. It performs better than most of the rivals in the 125 cc segment. Disc brake helps to calm it down even when it reaches 100 kmph.
Mileage
Being a 125 cc mill, Phoenix returns quiet a good figure of 55 kmpl in the city, which in turn increases to 60 kmpl on the highway.
Brakes and Suspension
TVS makes it a game changer with its special Roto Petal disc brake which dissipates heat faster and ensures efficient braking. It’s not just impressive safety provider but a style icon too. For a comfortable ride, twin 5-step adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers with series spring are given at the rear with telescopic oil damped type at the front.
Ride and Handling
TVS has given its Phoenix a 165 mm ground clearance with 17 inch 90/90 tyres which are good enough for a comfortable ride experience. Riding at higher speed feels like power deficient but in city environment, it can be very comfortable at even very low speeds.
Variants
2015 Phoenix comes in 3 variants namely Phoenix drum, Phoenix Disc, Phoenix disc (Alpine White Edition).
Shades
2015 TVS Phoenix 125 is available in six attractive shades - Crimson Black, Black Magic, Midnight Black, Red Hot, Cherry White, White Night.
Price
Phoenix drum version is available at 51,160 INR whereas the disc version is for 53,220 INR. The Alpine White Edition costs 53,600 INR.
Verdict
Despite of being a feature rich bike, TVS Phoenix 125 will have a long list of rivals who might have got less to show, actually their name matters a lot to the ones who are there to buy.
