TVS Apache RTR 200 (Old Model)

About
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is a significant upgrade in the Apache series, designed to cater to the 200cc segment with its unique blend of style and performance. The bike features a 198cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine that produces 20.7 bhp of power and 18.1 Nm of torque, making it potent for both city rides and highway cruises. The all-digital instrument console, adjustable suspension, and dual-channel ABS (in the ABS variant) are notable features. The bikes handling is commendable, with a responsive double cradle frame and good grip from the TVS Remora tyres. Visually, it stands out with its sharp headlight, chiseled fuel tank, and double barrel exhaust canister. While it has some minor drawbacks like the lack of a sixth gear and slightly underwhelming brakes, it remains one of the best buys in its class for its overall package of performance, comfort, and safety.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is a standout in its segment, offering a blend of style, performance, and practicality that makes it an excellent choice for both city riding and occasional long trips. Its muscular design, all-digital instrument console, and double barrel exhaust canister make it a visually appealing motorcycle. The bikes 198cc oil-cooled engine delivers 20.7 bhp of power and 18.1 Nm of torque, providing a smooth and refined ride with excellent mid-range grunt. The suspension is well-balanced, making it comfortable over minor road undulations and agile in corners. However, the lack of a sixth gear can be felt on highways, and the brakes, while adequate, could be sharper. Overall, its a reliable and enjoyable ride, though minor issues like loose mirrors and some cost-cutting in build quality are notable.
Price
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, when it was first introduced, was priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for the base carburettor version started around Rs 96,230, while the ABS variant, which is highly recommended for its added safety features, was priced at around Rs 1.10 lakh in Delhi. On-road prices would typically include additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other local taxes, pushing the total to around Rs 1.20 lakh to Rs 1.30 lakh for the ABS variant. Given its features, performance, and safety enhancements, the Apache RTR 200 4V offers good value for money.
Latest Updates
Thursday, 14 July 2022 06:47 AM The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V has been praised for its rev-loving engine and technical features like TBT Navigation and Emergency Crash Calls. However, some users have noted issues such as the lack of a 6th gear on highways and the need for better brakes. I think these are areas where TVS could focus on improvements to make the bike even more appealing.
Wednesday, 20 April 2022 07:05 PM In 2022, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V continued to impress riders with its versatile riding modes, including Sport, Urban, and Rain, each adjusting power and ABS settings for different conditions. This feature has been a game-changer for both city commuting and highway cruising. I think this addition has significantly enhanced the bikes appeal to a broader range of riders.
Thursday, 05 November 2020 05:30 AM By 2021, TVS had introduced several key updates to the Apache RTR 200 4V, including a new matte blue paint scheme, slightly increased power and torque outputs to 20.5 hp and 17.25 Nm, and adjustable front suspension. These changes made the bike more desirable without a significant price hike, just Rs 1,000 more than the 2020 model. I believe these updates have kept the Apache competitive in the 200cc segment.
Wednesday, 01 January 2020 06:36 PM In 2020, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V transitioned to BS6 compliant engines, which brought about improvements in riding, handling, and integrated technology. This move was part of the companys broader effort to comply with new emission norms while maintaining performance. I think this transition was crucial for the bikes continued success in the Indian market.
Thursday, 14 July 2016 04:38 AM When the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V was first launched in 2016, it was one of the most feature-loaded bikes in its segment, offering dual-channel ABS and other advanced features. This made it a flagship model for TVS, attracting a lot of attention from bike enthusiasts. I believe its launch set a new standard for feature-rich motorcycles in India.

Vehicle Overview TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi4V was recently launched in India for INR 1,07,005 (ex-showroom Delhi). It is the premium version of the 200cc street bike from the Indian manufacturer, using 197.75cc, single cylinder engine that is good for 20.73 BHP and 18.1 Nm of torque. The gearbox also remains 5-speed while the throttle response on the bike becomes crystal clear with fuel injection. It weighs 500 grams over the wet weight of the carburetor version. Buyers may feel disappointed with such high pricing for the fuel injected model as this bike still lacks the use of Pirelli tyres and dual channel ABS.

Review on my matte blue ABS

Yesterday itself (23/11/2015) I purchased Matte blue ABS version of this cool bike. I already had one 160 RTR and Pulsar 180. But this one beats them. Powerful engine with high thrust power with good center of gravity are best features of this bike. Moreover the matte Blue colour is really awesome and makes it different from others. I will recommend all of you that always you can go for this bike as you'll never regret. Good luck !!

Best Features: ABS, Balance, throttle , looks

Pros: Braking, as usual high and quick pick-up, good balance and last but not the least .. its awesome looks

Cons: Servicing at TVS stores is really pathetic

It was good experience riding it. But to get better I will say the points that it could have done better.
First the engine, good but could have been better with another gear, liquid cooling or bigger oil cooler and bit more power.
Chain is bit noisy.
Front brake would have been better if bigger.
Looks wise good but the headlamp could have been bit lowered with the line of the fuel tank.
Exhaust sounds great but from design perspective that extra part don't gel with the overall look.
I own a RTR and I always wish it do better than its competitors. Be clear ahead of all, other wise you are running behind.

TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi is undoubtedly the best naked street bike present on the Indian roads in the 200 cc segment. The fuel injection version will be a little expensive than the regular one but it will be worth the wait for any enthusiast.
