TVS Apache RTR 160 2V Review
Detailed Review by Maxabout Team
Overview
In India, TVS just introduced the upgraded RTR 160 and RTR 180. A person might not notice the changes based on their appearance, yet there are lots of them. TVS refers to them as "all-new Racer's Choice" models. Both motorcycles have received visual and technical modifications from TVS Motors.
For almost 10 years, the TVS Apache RTR 160 has been a track mainstay, pushing the limits of performance. The famous race machine is now poised to become the next racer's choice. It is the first in its class to feature ride modes, elevating an already formidable performance machine to new heights.
TVS Apache RTR 160 Design and Style
TVS has given the New Apache RTR 160 a much-needed facelift, making it more relevant in today's 160cc market with a new appearance and functionality. The all-new LED Headlamp has been engineered to provide optimum illumination. The ominous design of the 'Beast Eyes' is given a modern twist. The LED position lamp is always on and ready to go. The LED tail lamp has a commanding appearance, designed to intimidate you as you take the lead on the racetrack. This, together with the redesigned artwork, gives the new RTR 160 a sportier appearance than before.
Other stylistic improvements include a revised headlight cowl and side panels. However, we believe the bike should have undergone considerable design alterations to get an even more modern appearance. The sharp tank cowl, designed to cut through the air, reduces drag while also lowering engine heat by 10°C. The engine cowl has been designed to be sharp and angular, allowing it to slice through the air while making a statement on the track. The TVS Apache RTR is kept cool during the race thanks to tank scoops. These are intended to send cool air into the engine while circulating warm air out. The sculpted contour of the tail cowl complements the TVS Apache's intimidating look.
TVS Apache RTR 160 Engine and Gearbox
The BS-VI Race Tuned Fuel Injection (RT-Fi) technology powers the all-new TVS Apache RTR 160, increasing power to 16.04 HP. The engine has been adjusted by the intelligent system so that racers can enjoy the engine's peak performance in every race circumstance. The race-derived engine has a short-stroke setup for lightning-fast acceleration. The engine produces a lot of torque, and the high top-end revs translate to faster racing speeds. A 159.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled, fuel-injected engine with a 5-speed gearbox now produces 16.04 HP at 8750 rpm and 13.85 Nm at 7000 rpm. This implies that it produces 0.51 HP more power and the torque has decreased by 0.05 Nm and also weighs 2kg less than its predecessor.
TVS Apache RTR 160 Suspension, Brakes and Tyres
2023 TVS Apache RTR 160 2V features a double cradle "Synchrostiff" frame, telescopic front fork, and twin 5-step preload-adjustable gas-charged shock absorbers in the rear. Cornering aggression and agility are perfectly balanced by the rear monotube inverted gas-filled 5-step adjustable shocks and rectangular swingarm. With split clip-on handlebars, a brake pedal, and a gear lever, the racer is now in complete control. The ergonomics are intended to make the racer feel like they are a part of the track machine. Its braking system consists of a 270mm front petal disc coupled to a 130mm drum or 200mm petal disc at the rear. At the rear, TVS has fitted a 110/80-17 Tubeless or 120/70-17 Tubeless (Disc BT) section tyre. While the front one remains a 90-section unit, TVS includes a single-channel ABS as standard.
Key Features of TVS Apache RTR 160
The New RTR 160 now has a new completely digital instrument cluster in its current edition. The clusters are available in three riding modes: Sport, Urban, and Rain. They now get voice assistance as well, which is a first in the section. With SmartXonnect, you can link your smartphone to the motorcycle's console via Bluetooth, giving you access to call and SMS notifications, turn-by-turn navigation, and a wealth of other information. However, Bluetooth is only available on the top-of-the-line model. It also includes Glide Through Traffic technology, which is a low-speed assist that assures the bike crawls using only clutch modulation and no throttle. This should be quite useful on congested roadways. It has a single-channel ABS system rather than a dual-channel device to save money. The bike now has a new LED headlamp and tail lamp, as well as a redesigned headlight cowl.
Top Speed and Mileage of TVS Apache RTR 160
The top speed of the 2023 TVS Apache RTR 160 in the Sport mode is 107 km/h and in the Urban/Rain mode is 97 km/h. It is expected to give the same mileage figures as before if not better, which were around 45 to 50 km/l.
TVS Apache RTR 160 Colour Options
TVS offers the New Apache RTR 160 in 5 different colour options: Pearl White, Matte Blue, Racing Red, T-Grey, and Gloss Black.

Stylish and Good Performer
Style: It's a beautifully crafted beast, when you just sit on the bike you feel like you are in a Race. Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: It's loaded with 160CC powerful RTR engine that you can really feel it. And fuel economy is good! I have just done with 2nd service (today) and so far I have got 60kmpl riding around 55km/hr and had never crossed 60km/hr.. but today I was really exited and happy to ride my beast at its best, I really enjoyed the pickup, speed, thrill.... coming to gearbox it lags (some times), it is smooth while the up shifts and stuck while down shifts and have to slow down the bike for down shifts but this is a common problem in all bike range. Ride Quality & Handling: Ride quality and Handling is extremely good.. but rear tyre slips when you brake, you might have to use good quality tyres. Areas of improvement: Riding comfort as riders get back ache, tyres, gearbox
Best Features: RTR, dashboard has many options, etc
Pros: Good performance, stylish, fuel economy, ride quality
Cons: Comfort, gearbox
