Our take on this /// Verdict
The TVS Apache RTR 180, even in its older model, stands out as a versatile and performance-oriented motorcycle. It offers a compelling blend of power, handling, and fuel efficiency, making it a solid choice for both city commuting and highway cruising. However, there are some drawbacks, such as the bikes behavior below 4,000 rpm, where it can stall and stutter, and the vibrations that are more pronounced in the lower rpm range. Despite these issues, the Apache RTR 180s stability, cornering capabilities, and excellent braking system, especially with the dual-channel ABS, make it a reliable and enjoyable ride. The bikes design and styling, though not the most photogenic, add to its functionality and aerodynamics. Overall, it is a good option for those seeking a balance between performance and practicality.
Price
The TVS Apache RTR 180, in its older model, was priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price in Delhi was around Rs. 1.33 lakh. However, the on-road price, including taxes, registration, and other costs, would typically range from Rs. 1.5 lakh to Rs. 1.6 lakh. This pricing makes it an attractive option for buyers looking for a powerful yet affordable motorcycle. The cost is justified by the bikes performance, features, and overall build quality, making it a value-for-money purchase.
Latest Updates
Monday, 17 July 2023 04:19 PM In 2023, a long-term owner of the TVS Apache RTR 180 shared his 12-year experience with the bike, highlighting its enduring performance and fun ride despite losing about 30% of its power over time. The owner also mentioned significant maintenance costs, including multiple replacements of electronic parts, tyres, and chain sprockets. I believe the bikes longevity and the owners dedication are a testament to its robust build and the owners meticulous care.
Sunday, 01 July 2012 03:31 PM In 2012, TVS introduced a facelift for the Apache RTR 180, which included a redesigned headlight with LED DRLs and chiselled fuel tank extensions to reduce engine heat. The engine output remained the same, but the design upgrades enhanced the bikes appeal. I think these updates were crucial in keeping the model competitive in the market.
Tuesday, 01 February 2011 06:43 AM In 2011, TVS launched the Apache RTR 180 with dual-channel ABS, making it the first ABS-equipped bike in India. This addition significantly improved the bikes safety features, setting a new standard in the segment. I believe this move was a significant step forward in enhancing rider safety.
Tuesday, 01 September 2009 12:23 PM In 2009, TVS launched the Apache RTR 180, which was created by reboring the 160cc engine to compete with the Bajaj Pulsar 180cc variant. The Apache RTR 180 produced 16.62hp of power and 15.5Nm of torque, making it the fastest in the 180cc segment at that time. I think this move was a smart strategic decision to capture a larger market share.
Wednesday, 02 January 2008 12:16 AM The TVS Apache RTR 180, known for its Racing Throttle Response, was also praised for its handling and agility. However, early models lacked ABS, which became a concern over time. I believe the absence of ABS in earlier models was a notable oversight, but subsequent updates addressed this issue effectively.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 10:03 AM The TVS Apache RTR 180 offers respectable fuel efficiency, which is a crucial factor for many Indian buyers. Users have reported mileage ranging from 40 to 45 kmpl under various riding conditions. This makes the bike economical for daily commuting and long-distance rides. While the mileage may not be the best in its class, it is more than adequate considering the bikes performance capabilities.
