General information and overview

The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is a significant upgrade in the Apache series, designed to cater to the 200cc segment with its unique blend of style and performance. The bike features a 198cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine that produces 20.7 bhp of power and 18.1 Nm of torque, making it potent for both city rides and highway cruises. The all-digital instrument console, adjustable suspension, and dual-channel ABS (in the ABS variant) are notable features. The bikes handling is commendable, with a responsive double cradle frame and good grip from the TVS Remora tyres. Visually, it stands out with its sharp headlight, chiseled fuel tank, and double barrel exhaust canister. While it has some minor drawbacks like the lack of a sixth gear and slightly underwhelming brakes, it remains one of the best buys in its class for its overall package of performance, comfort, and safety.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V is a standout in its segment, offering a blend of style, performance, and practicality that makes it an excellent choice for both city riding and occasional long trips. Its muscular design, all-digital instrument console, and double barrel exhaust canister make it a visually appealing motorcycle. The bikes 198cc oil-cooled engine delivers 20.7 bhp of power and 18.1 Nm of torque, providing a smooth and refined ride with excellent mid-range grunt. The suspension is well-balanced, making it comfortable over minor road undulations and agile in corners. However, the lack of a sixth gear can be felt on highways, and the brakes, while adequate, could be sharper. Overall, its a reliable and enjoyable ride, though minor issues like loose mirrors and some cost-cutting in build quality are notable.

I think these are areas where TVS could focus on improvements to make the bike even more appealing.

By 2021, TVS had introduced several key updates to the Apache RTR 200 4V, including a new matte blue paint scheme, slightly increased power and torque outputs to 20.5 hp and 17.25 Nm, and adjustable front suspension. It was good experience riding it. But to get better I will say the points that it could have done better.
First the engine, good but could have been better with another gear, liquid cooling or bigger oil cooler and bit more power.
Chain is bit noisy.
Front brake would have been better if bigger.
Looks wise good but the headlamp could have been bit lowered with the line of the fuel tank.
Exhaust sounds great but from design perspective that extra part don't gel with the overall look.
I own a RTR and I always wish it do better than its competitors. Be clear ahead of all, other wise you are running behind.

TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi is undoubtedly the best naked street bike present on the Indian roads in the 200 cc segment. The fuel injection version will be a little expensive than the regular one but it will be worth the wait for any enthusiast.
