Ex Showroom Price vs On Road Price | Ex-Showroom Price is the Manufacturing Cost of the vehicle + Dealer/Seller Profit + GST (Goods and Service Tax) + Transportation Charges (from the manufacturing plant to the dealership). On the other hand, the On-Road Price is the actual cost you pay to the dealership to make the vehicle legal to run on the roads. It includes Ex-Showroom Price in your city + RTO Charges (Vehicle Registration) + One Time Road Tax + Insurance Charges. The On-Road Price also includes some optional things like if you opt for Genuine Accessories and Extended Warranty while buying a vehicle. Please note that the On-Road Price varies a lot across different states in India due to different percentage for the State Registration Charges. |
Triumph Trident 660 Review
Detailed Review by Maxabout Team
Overview
The Triumph Trident 660 is one of Triumph's most well-known and popular models in India. The first price increase of Triumph's entry-level naked-sports bike arrived in India within the first year of its launch. Last year, Triumph introduced the Trident 660 in India. The well-executed sports bike provides a plethora of technology, excellent build quality, and adequate performance for enthusiasts. In response to the Triumph Trident 660s growing popularity, the company has increased the Trident 660's price by Rs 50,000. The price increase is part of the annual increase that every automotive product experiences at the start of the year. Despite the price increase, the Triumph Trident 660 will remain unchanged in 2024.
Trident 660 Design and Style
The new Triumph Trident was designed and developed by the team at Triumph's headquarters in Hinckley, UK, with styling input from Rodolfo Frascoli, the motorcycle designer behind the new Tiger 900. Frascoli was also the designer of the Triumph Speed Triple and the now-discontinued Tiger 1050. The fuel tank bulges out around the round LED headlight from the front, giving the Trident a muscular, broad-shouldered appearance. The two-tone fuel tank finish is a nice touch, and the overall attention to detail, fit, and finish leave no doubt that the Trident 660 is a high-quality package. Triumph has attempted to strike a balance between classic curvy lines and contemporary design. The circular LED headlamp, curvy tank, large knee recesses, and roundel info cluster all have a retro vibe. However, the overall appearance is reminiscent of a '90s European naked. The short, stubby tail is wide and inviting. With the rear turn indicators mounted on the tyre hugger, the LED taillight is neatly integrated into the tail.
Trident 660 Engine and Gearbox
2024 Trident is powered by a 660cc inline three-cylinder engine with architecture derived from the Triumph Daytona’s 675cc triple engine. The Daytona 675 architecture served as the foundation for all modern inline three-cylinder engines from Triumph, including the current 765cc Street Triple engine, the engine from the previous generation Tiger 800, and even the new Tiger 900, but the engine itself is completely new from the ground up. The 660cc in-line three-cylinder liquid-cooled engine produces 80 hp at 10,250 rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. Despite the modest performance figures, Triumph claims that 90% of the torque is available throughout the rev range, so it should be a fun-to-ride motorcycle with responsible performance. The engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission with an assist/slipper clutch. Triumph also offers a kit in Europe that limits the output figures to 47 HP and 59 Nm, allowing the bike to meet A2 licensing standards on the continent. Triumph offers a bidirectional quick shifter for an additional cost in the Indian market to ensure quick gear shifts.
Trident 660 Suspension, Brakes and Tyres
A new steel perimeter frame connects to a 41mm inverted separate function front fork and a linked preload-adjustable rear mono-shock from Showa, both with preload adjustability. Twin 310mm front discs with sliding callipers and a 255mm disc with a single-piston calliper provide braking. Michelin Road 5 tyres are mounted on both ends of the 17-inch cast aluminium wheels.
Instrument Console of Trident 660
The round console is fully digital, with the top LCD portion displaying information such as speed, revs, fuel level, and gear selection. The bottom half is a colour TFT panel that allows you to control the electronic aids as well as add smartphone connectivity (via a separate module).
Key Features of Trident 660
Despite being Triumph's entry-level triple, the new Trident 660 is packed with features like an all-LED lighting system and a colour TFT instrument cluster with optional smartphone connectivity, which enables functions like turn-by-turn navigation, and music control, phone call and GoPro control. The motorcycle also comes with two riding modes: Road and Rain, as well as a switchable traction control system and dual-channel ABS.
Top Speed and Mileage of Trident 660
The top speed of the new Trident 660 is 212 km/h and the ARAI claimed mileage is around 22 km/l but the real-world figures might vary.
Trident 660 Colour Options
Triumph offers 2024 Trident 660 in 4 different colour options: Crystal White, Sapphire Black, Matt Jet Black And Silver Ice, Silver Ice And Diablo Red.
Trident 660 Competitors
2024 Triumph Trident 660 will be a more feature-rich, performance-oriented alternative to the Kawasaki Z650. It will also compete with the recently released Honda CB650R, which is significantly more expensive than the British Triple. The Aprilia Tuono 660 and the Suzuki SV650 are two other competitors.
Conclusion
The new Trident 660 is positioned as an entry-level premium bike for riders with less experience or those looking to get back into motorcycles. Looking at the numbers alone, the Trident may not appear to be much, but with 80 bhp power and 90% torque spread across the rev range in a 189 kg kerb weight package, it makes for an entertaining motorcycle. It will be ideal for the daily commute, and weekend excursions, and will gladly take on touring duties if necessary.
What matters is that whether you're a first-time rider or have some experience under your belt, the new Trident 660 has enough to keep you entertained. Triumph Trident may not provide the rapid acceleration or bragging rights of a litre-class sportbike, but it will certainly put a smile on your face every time you explore its capabilities and performance limits. It may not be your ideal motorcycle, but it comes pretty close to being an ideal entertaining roadster. Triumph has created an engaging and compact motorcycle that screams 'FUN' with every twist of the throttle.
