Triumph Tiger 800 XC is an off-road motorcycle of dual-sport class which was first launched in 2010 by British motorcycle manufacturing company Triumph Motorcycles along with its road-oriented brother Triumph Tiger 800. It certainly flaunts a next-level off-road ability with its smart off-road features, while still maintaining a powerful grip of comfort. Let's check out what it holds over and under its hood.

Design and Style

Triumph Tiger 800 XC is a perfect blend of power, style and robustness with its astoundingly well off-road abilities. It has got a comfortable seat with an upright riding position, aerodynamically optimized windscreen, wider bars, nicely positioned footrests and chunky grab handles, fore and aft adjustable handlebars and span-adjustable handlebar levers, a strong tubular steel trellis frame, switchable ABS, a coded key immobilizer, a rear rack, sturdy hand protectors, a high-output alternator(for accessories like heated grips, spotlights or electrically heated clothing) for all-weather riders, a lots of luggage options which includes capacious panniers and top case, tank bags, tail packs and inner bags and a lever behind the headlights to compensate for the tail-down stance, a stainless steel 3-into-1 exhaust system with high-level stainless steel silencer, 36-spoke 21-inch wheels at front and 32-spoke 17-inch wheels at rear with both having aluminum alloy rims and 90/90 front and 150/70 rear radial tubeless tires.

Other features of Tiger 800XC are beak-like high-level front mudguard, twin-sided cast aluminum alloy swing arms, twin circular halogen headlights, conical turn indicators at front and rear, black rear view mirrors and a beautiful LED tail light. Also, it has got a multi-functional LCD instrument pack with a digital speedometer, a trip computer, an analogue tachometer, a gear position indicator, a fuel gauge, a service indicator, a switchable ABS and a clock.

Dimensions and Weight

This superb bike has a length of 2215mm, a width of 865mm and a height of 1390mm as its dimensions along with an adjustable seat height between 845-865mm and has a large wheelbase of 1545mm for a comfy and stable ride. It has a rake and trail of 24.3-degrees and 95.3mm respectively and a fuel tank capacity of 19liters along with a wet weight of 215kgs.

Engine and Gearbox

Triumph Tiger 800 XC has got a powerful 799cc, in-line 3-cylinders, 12-valves, liquid-cooled, DOHC based engine with a maximum power of 93.7bhp at 9,300rpm and a maximum torque of 79Nm at 7,850rpm and is mated with a 6-speed gearbox transmission to give a top speed of almost 210kmph with an urban fuel consumption of 49.6us mpg. It also has a bore and stroke of 74mm and 61.9mm respectively, a multipoint sequential electronic fuel injection system, an O-ring-chain type final drive, a wet multi-plate clutch and an oil capacity of 3.7liters.

Suspension and Braking Sytem

Triumph Tiger 800 XC has got 308mm diameter twin floating disk brakes with Nissin 2-piston floating calipers at front and 255mm diameter single disk brake with Nissin single-piston floating caliper at rear. The switchable ABS is standard. The suspension system consists of Showa 45mm upside down forks with 220mm wheel travel at front and Showa monoshock with remote oil reservoir, hydraulically adjustable preload, rebound damping adjustment and 215mm wheel travel at rear.
