The 2027 Triumph Tiger 1200 has been revealed globally with a more powerful triple-cylinder engine, radar rider assistance and suspension that lowers the seat when stopping. The GT Pro and Rally Explorer are reported for India in March 2027, while India pricing and the final local equipment list remain unannounced.
What is new?
Engine: the 1,160cc T-Plane triple now produces 158 PS, with 130 Nm of torque.
Chassis: all four global models adopt 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, with 200mm suspension travel.
Accessibility: SHOWA's new suspension lowers the seat by 30mm at stops.
Technology: front and rear radar, plus a new 7-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration.
More than a power increase
Triumph quotes 158 PS for the updated engine, an 8 PS increase. PS is the manufacturer's stated unit and should not be silently relabelled as bhp. The engine revisions include the cylinder head, pistons, valves, fuel injection and exhaust, alongside changes intended to improve low-speed response.
The first three gear ratios, six-speed gearbox and shaft drive have also been revised. For a large adventure bike, easier crawling and smoother transitions between acceleration and deceleration can matter as much as the peak figure when manoeuvring in traffic or with luggage. These are design intentions and manufacturer claims at the reveal stage, rather than conclusions from an India road test.
GT Pro and Rally Explorer: the useful distinctions
The global range has four models, but the reported India plan names two: GT Pro and Rally Explorer. Both share the new wheel diameters; the GT uses cast aluminium wheels and the Rally uses side-laced spokes. The Pro and Explorer labels also identify a fuel-capacity difference.
| Global specification | GT Pro | Rally Explorer |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel tank | 20 litres | 30 litres |
| Wheel construction | Cast aluminium | Side-laced spokes |
| Wheel diameters | 19-inch front, 17-inch rear | 19-inch front, 17-inch rear |
| India timing | March 2027 reported | March 2027 reported |
| India price | Not announced | Not announced |
The outgoing Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer provides background on the model line. Its existing price and specifications should not be treated as the new generation's India offer.

How the seat-lowering feature works
SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX automatically reduces seat height by 30mm as the motorcycle stops, then restores the appropriate riding height after it pulls away. This is intended to improve footing at low speed without requiring the bike to remain at the lower position while riding.
The advertised minimum of 790mm at a standstill needs context: it requires the low seat and the automatic lowering function. Triumph says low-seat availability varies by market. It is not a universal standard riding seat height, and India's supplied seat configuration still needs confirmation. A showroom fit check would remain useful because seat width, load and the rider's inseam also affect reach.
Radar assistance and connectivity
Front and rear Bosch radar enable functions including adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning and blind-spot assistance. These systems support awareness and distance management; they do not make the motorcycle autonomous or remove the rider's responsibility for control.
The new 7-inch touchscreen supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Triumph also describes updated switchgear and a cooled phone compartment with USB-C charging. Buyers should check compatibility and the final local specification before assuming every global function will be included on an Indian-delivered bike.
FAQs
When is the 2027 Tiger 1200 coming to India?
March 2027 is the reported timing for GT Pro and Rally Explorer sales. A detailed booking and delivery schedule has not been established here.
What is the India price?
It has not been announced in the checked reveal material. Existing MY24 prices are not prices for the 2027 model.
Does every variant get a 790mm seat?
No. That standstill minimum depends on the low seat and active lowering function, with seat availability varying by market.
