Tork Kratos Review
Detailed Review by Maxabout Team
Overview
Tork Motors is not a new name in the electric vehicle industry. It was one of the first organisations to recognise and capitalise on the green mobility idea. It created some e-bikes that won a race on the Isle of Man. It then produced more, which were not used on racetracks. Tork Motors has continued to innovate and manufacture green automobiles. Its most ambitious project was the T6X, an electric motorcycle that was supposed to be released years ago but development took time and then the pandemic, and now after a long wait a production-ready model with a new moniker, Tork Kratos is out there.
Tork Kratos Design and Style
To begin with, Tork Kratos appears to be a standard motorcycle. It does not appear little or slender, nor does it have design characteristics that cry "Imported from China, built in India." Kratos appears to be a motorbike in the 150cc-160cc category and appears to be aggressive, which is sure to attract a lot of young people. The fascia, with its sleek headlight unit, adds a cool touch. Tork Kratos gets a sleek and flowing crease from the side, which adds considerable ferocity. The tail side is also well-balanced and finished and the e-bike has some heft and mass throughout.
Tork has done a good job with the overall fit and quality. It's not as excellent as bikes from massive brands, but for a little company that has yet to prove itself, it's a promising start. Plastics are of acceptable quality, the use of black plastic panels on the fuel tank and the roughness of the tail section made it look rather bad. However, the corporation has stated that it would enhance this in the future. The best thing about the Kratos' graphics is that, even with a massive battery pack, the bike doesn't look out of place, which we believe represents their careful thought process.
Tork Kratos Engine and Gearbox
There are two models available: the Kratos and the Kratos R. Tork tuned the standard model to produce 7.5 kW (10.05 HP) of peak power and 28 Nm of maximum torque. The R model produces 9 kW (12.06 HP) and 38 Nm of peak torque. Both models have an Axial Flux motor and a 4kWH, IP67-certified lithium-ion battery pack. Tork has coupled the Kratos engine with a single-speed, mid-drive electric motor with single-stage gear reduction and chain drive gearbox.
Tork Kratos Suspension, Brakes and Tyres
Tork has suspended the new Kratos on a Trellis frame and the Hydraulic Telescopic handles the suspension duties at the front and the Mono Shock Hydraulic at the rear. Kratos features the Disc Brakes for both front and rear end which are aided by the ABS and Regenerative Braking system. The new Tork Kratos comes with 17-inch alloy wheels and the tubeless tyre sections of 90/80-17 at the front and 120/80-17 at the rear.
Instrument Console of Tork Kratos
2024 Tork Kratos has a full digital TFT instrument cluster. It does not have a touchscreen, but it is compatible with smartphones via a dedicated app. You can use the app to access functions such as anti-theft, crash alert, Safe Home, hazard lights, and guide-me-home lights. The Tork Kratos comes with four riding modes: Eco, City, Sports, and Reverse. The R model also includes a more sporty Track Mode, which is Bluetooth enabled. For added convenience, both the regular and R variants include a reverse mode. If the e-bike is going to be left unused for a lengthy period, both models have a Vacation Mode.
Key Features of Tork Kratos
In terms of features, Tork has equipped the Kratos with many useful features. One of the most important ones is the front storage box, 4 riding modes Eco, City, Sports and Reverse, an anti-theft system, crash alert, guide-me-home lights, OTA updates, regenerative braking, USB charging, and digital instrument console with connectivity features. Tork also has a dedicated mobile app that allows features like charging status, geo-fencing, ride telemetry and even a charging station location. Some comfort features of the Tork Kratos include Electric Start, Pillion Grabrail, Pillion Footrest, Step-up Seat/Split Seat, Riding Modes and USB Charging.
Top Speed and Range of Tork Kratos
2024 Tork Kratos has a top speed of 100 km/h and Kratos R has a top speed of 105 km/h (company-claimed). The range depends on the riding mode and is as follows - IDC Range is 180 km, Eco Mode range is 120 km, City Mode range is 100 km, Sports Mode range is 70 km. Tork Kratos can speed up from 0 to 40 km/h in 4 seconds and it takes Kratos R 3.5 seconds to do the same.
Tork Kratos Colour Options
Tork offers both the variants Kratos and Kratos R in four colour options; Blue, Red, Black and White.
Tork Kratos Competitors
Oben Rorr, Revolt RV400, Ultraviolette F77, Hero AE 47, Odysse Evoqis, Joy E-Monster, Joy Hurricane, and Revolt RV300 are some similar bikes to the new Tork Kratos in the market.
Conclusion
2024 Tork Kratos and Kratos R are well-thought-out motorcycles. Kratos looks really cool and has the design traits and feel of a regular motorcycle. They packed it with a motor and battery pack that is practical and usable. Tork Kratos gets features that work and also enhance the overall appeal of the electric motorcycle. Unlike a few other e-scooters in the market, the e-motor on the Kratos doesn’t whine much. The battery gets a decent claimed riding range, and it looks decent on the paper. However, there are a few things that Tork needs to work on: quality and reliability. The black textured plastics aren’t appreciable, and the motor goes into limp mode every time the temperature sensor gives up.
