Suzuki Access 125 Disc Review

15 Mar, 2016 02:17 PM

Overview

Suzuki has been brought back from the dead by its famous Gixxer series whereas the sales for automatic scooters, Access and Swish has seen a decline due to their aging design. Suzuki's new Access was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 and finally has launched in India at a price tag of INR 53,887.

Design and Style

The new Suzuki Access 125 is purely different from the current generation of the gearless scooter. It carries a retro inspired design and flaunts a lot of chrome over it's bright shining body. The side profile is actually much better than before but the rear and front end does not purely match to this profile. Suzuki has followed the Yamaha Fascino path and the design language now clearly differentiates the Access 125 from Swish 125. If a Suzuki fan need curves, Swish 125 serves the purpose and those who are on a vintage inspired, retro appealing hunt, Access 125 is the perfect companion.

Instrument Console

Suzuki offers the most easily readable and stylish instrument console of the segment. The single pod, white background console uses an analogue speedometer with a small screen below it. The panel hosts odometer, trip-meter and digital fuel gauge for the scooter. High beam light stays on the left and turn indicator light is on the right of the speedometer.

Dimensions

Access 125 measures 1870 mm in length, 655 in width and 1160 mm in height. The scooter provides a ground clearance of 160 mm and a wheelbase of 1265 mm.

Engine and Gearbox

The scooter is powered by a 124cc, 1-cylinder, air cooled engine producing 8.58 Bhp @ 7,000 rpm and 10.2 Nm @ 5,000 rpm. It was the only scooter in 125 cc segment which was priced equivalent to the 110 cc Honda Activa in the older model. The gearbox remains automatic and the overall weighs stays just 102 kg. The fuel tank is now 5.6 liters, providing an overall range of 225-250 kms.

Brakes and Suspension

The addition of premium feel to the scooter has been done through a disc brakes at the front wheel whereas the rear has been kept the same as the earlier model. The addition of 5-spoke silver alloys makes the Access look more elegant and tubeless tyres side by side reduce the chances of sudden deflation. The front suspension is telescopic whereas rear uses coil spring, oil damped suspension.

Special Features

The new Access 125 provides the rider with the longest seat in its class. It comes with large under seat storage and foot-board, along with optional charging socket. The Suzuki easy start system makes it more convenient than ever.

Variants and Shades

The scooter is offered in Pearl Suzuki Deep Blue, Candy Sonoma Red, Pearl Mirage White, Metallic Matt Fibroin Gray and Glass Sparkle Black shade. It is offered in just a single variant with optional accessories for better ride quality.

Ex-showroom Price

The scooter comes with a price tag of INR 53,887. The price seems reasonable as Honda Activa offers the same features at a bigger price tag while the Access 125 costs just INR 59,123 when calculated on road. The features like disc brake and mobile charger has been kept optional on the same.
