Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X

About
The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X is based on the standard Thunderbird but features several cosmetic updates. It is powered by the same 499cc air-cooled, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine that produces robust torque, making it ideal for cruising at speeds between 60-90 kmh. The bike boasts a comfortable riding position, thanks to its well-designed ergonomics, and a split seat that is accommodating for both the rider and pillion. The suspension, including the front forks and gas-charged rear shocks, provides excellent ride quality, absorbing road imperfections effectively. With its 20-litre fuel tank, the Thunderbird 500X is well-suited for long highway rides. Additionally, it features rear disc brakes, which enhance its braking capabilities. Overall, the Thunderbird 500X combines classic Royal Enfield charm with modern aesthetics, making it an attractive option for those looking for a comfortable and stylish cruiser.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X is a compelling package for those seeking a comfortable and powerful cruiser. It retains the essence of the standard Thunderbird but with a more modern and sleek design. The 500X does not introduce any mechanical changes, but its aesthetic updates, such as the new color schemes and blacked-out components, give it a fresh appeal. The riding experience is quintessentially Royal Enfield, with a strong focus on comfort and stability, especially at speeds between 60-90 kmh. However, its not meant for aggressive riding, as the vibrations and engine protest can be noticeable. Overall, its a great choice for those who value a relaxed, long-distance riding experience and a distinctive look.
Price
When the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X was launched, its ex-showroom price in India was around 2.20 lakh. However, prices can vary depending on the state and local taxes. Its important to note that prices may have changed since the launch, so its advisable to check with local dealers for the most current pricing. Latest Updates
Tuesday, 15 October 2024 05:47 PM Royal Enfield has announced that the Thunderbird 500X will no longer be upgraded to BS 6 emissions standards, marking the end of an era for this popular cruiser. This decision has left many enthusiasts disappointed, as the Thunderbird 500X was a favorite among long-distance riders. I think this move might push buyers towards other Royal Enfield models that are BS 6 compliant.
Sunday, 20 August 2023 06:22 AM The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X has been priced at Rs. 2.13 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), making it a premium offering in the cruiser segment. This price includes the safety feature of dual-channel ABS, which is a significant upgrade over the non-ABS variant. The bikes blacked-out components and bright paintwork make it stand out. I believe the ABS addition is a welcome move for safety-conscious buyers.
Wednesday, 10 May 2023 10:31 PM Royal Enfield introduced the Thunderbird 500X with a modern twist on the classic Thunderbird design. The new model features blacked-out parts, contrasting bright paintwork, and alloy wheels, giving it a distinctive look. The engine remains the same 499cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder motor producing 27.5PS and 41.3Nm of torque. I think the new design elements will appeal to younger riders.
Saturday, 25 March 2023 04:34 PM The Thunderbird 500X has been compared to other cruisers in the market, such as the Bajaj Dominar and Mahindra Mojo. While it retains its classic charm, the bikes performance and features make it a strong contender in the segment. The single stepped-up seat and new plastic grab rails are notable upgrades. I believe the Thunderbird 500X holds its ground well against the competition.
Wednesday, 15 February 2023 10:22 PM Royal Enfield launched the Thunderbird X series, which includes the Thunderbird 500X, aimed at enhancing the youthful character and self-expression of the Thunderbird brand. The Thunderbird 500X is priced at Rs. 198,878 (ex-showroom Delhi), while the Thunderbird 350X is priced at Rs. 156,849 (ex-showroom Delhi). Tuesday, 10 January 2023 05:05 PM The Thunderbird 500X features several cosmetic changes, including a flatter handlebar, blacked-out engine and exhaust, and new alloy wheels. These changes give the bike a more modern and sleek appearance. I think these updates make the bike more appealing to new buyers.
Tuesday, 20 December 2022 12:43 PM There have been some concerns raised by owners regarding the EFI system and fuel pump issues in the Thunderbird 500X. However, many owners have reported satisfaction with the bikes performance and overall experience. Its important for potential buyers to weigh these factors before making a decision. I believe a test drive can help clarify any doubts.
Tuesday, 15 November 2022 10:08 PM Royal Enfield emphasized the importance of safety with the introduction of dual-channel ABS on the Thunderbird 500X. This feature adds a premium of around Rs. 15,000 over the non-ABS variant but is seen as a valuable addition for long-distance riders. The ABS system enhances the bikes braking capabilities, making it safer on various road conditions.
Saturday, 10 September 2022 07:43 PM The Thunderbird 500X retains the same 499cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder motor as the Thunderbird 500, producing 27.5PS at 5250rpm and 41.3Nm of torque at 4000rpm. This engine is known for its reliability and performance, especially at low RPMs, making it ideal for long cruises. I think this engine choice is a key factor in the bikes popularity.
Monday, 25 July 2022 07:15 AM Royal Enfields decision to introduce the Thunderbird 500X with alloy wheels instead of spoked units has been well-received by enthusiasts. The new wheels come with matching rim tapes in bright colors, adding to the bikes custom look. This change, along with other design tweaks, has made the Thunderbird 500X a standout in its segment.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 05:53 AM The mileage of the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X is generally in line with other Royal Enfield models. In real-world conditions, you can expect a fuel efficiency of around 30-35 kml when riding at moderate speeds. However, this can drop to around 20-25 kml if youre riding aggressively or in heavy traffic. The engines torque and the bikes weight contribute to its fuel consumption, but overall, its reasonable for a 499cc single-cylinder engine. For daily commuting and long-distance rides, the Thunderbird 500X provides a balance between performance and fuel efficiency, making it a practical choice for many riders. I love to ride this, usually ride on hills. It's has given me the pride to ride Thunder Bird 350X. This Bullet ride is really amazing, Add On : 1.) I had little changes in Seat (Which Original seat is not a comfort for long Rides) I made a cushion with my Seat Modifier. 2.) Add on Backrest for Pillion Rider. 3.) Handle Cross Bar for Load balancing and less vibration feel on Handle Bar.

Best Features: Handling of this Bullet

Pros: I Love its look

Cons: They must have to give a 6th Gear
