Our take on this /// Verdict
The KTM 890 Adventure R is a masterpiece that seamlessly blends off-road prowess with on-road comfort and performance. My experience with this bike has been nothing short of exhilarating. The 889cc parallel-twin engine delivers a punchy performance with 103.25 bhp and 100Nm of torque, making it a joy to ride on both tarmac and dirt. The bikes ergonomics, including the redesigned seat and Dakar Rally-inspired ergos, make it incredibly comfortable for long stretches. The WP XPLOR suspension and Pirelli Scorpion STR tires provide exceptional stability and grip, whether youre carving through mountain roads or tackling challenging off-road trails. The array of rider modes, including the fun and aggressive Rally mode, adds to the bikes versatility. Overall, the KTM 890 Adventure R is a must-have for any adventure bike enthusiast looking for a machine that can handle anything from daily commuting to extreme off-road adventures.
Price
In India, the KTM 890 Adventure R is priced as a premium offering due to its import as a completely built-up (CBU) unit. The ex-showroom price is expected to be around 14-15 lakhs, depending on the region and any local taxes. Once you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other charges, the total on-road price could easily exceed 17-18 lakhs. While this is certainly on the higher side, the bikes performance, features, and build quality justify the cost for serious adventure bike enthusiasts. The price places it in competition with other high-end adventure bikes like the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally and the BMW F900GS.

KTM has updated the 2024 890 Adventure R Rally with several key features, including Offroad ABS that reduces ABS functionality on the front wheel and deactivates it on the rear when in Offroad or Rally Mode. This allows for better control and braking power in off-road conditions. The bike also boasts a lightweight WP XPLOR PRO 7548 fork and a WP XPLOR PRO 6746 shock absorber, both fully adjustable. I believe these updates make it one of the most capable off-road bikes on the market.

Mileage
Monday, 18 November 2024 10:45 AM
When it comes to mileage, the KTM 890 Adventure R is not designed to be a fuel-sipper, given its powerful engine and adventurous nature. In real-world conditions, you can expect an average fuel efficiency of around 15-20 kml, depending on how aggressively you ride and the mix of on-road and off-road usage. On long highway stretches, the bike can deliver closer to 20 kml, while off-road excursions and city riding might bring this down to around 15 kml. The 20-litre fuel tank provides a decent range, allowing you to cover significant distances without frequent fuel stops. While the mileage might not be the best, the overall performance and capabilities of the bike make it a worthwhile trade-off for many riders. Discussions and Questions KTM 890 Adventure R
Is all that extra cost worth it for the KTM 890 Adventure R over the standard model for mostly street riding?
15 January 2025 07:42
It’s worth the R just for the looks. Plus, you never know what kind of terrain you may want to tackle. It is better to have the capability and not need it than to need it and not have it.
