General information and overview

The Hyosung GV125 is a compact cruiser tailored for Indian riders seeking big-bike presence in a 125cc frame, boasting minimalist bobber design with LED lighting, 2080mm length, 710mm low seat, and 165kg kerb weight for easy handling in tight streets. Powered by a 124.7cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine (14.8hp variants noted), it pairs with 5-speed transmission and belt drive for smooth shifts up to 100 km/h, aided by CBS brakes on 270mm front/250mm rear discs, 120/80-16 front and 150/80-15 rear tyres. Suspension—telescopic forks upfront, twin adjustable shocks rear—absorbs potholes well, while digital console tracks essentials. Fuel efficiency nears 35 km/l with 12L tank, suiting daily 50km commutes or light tours; its low maintenance and stable dynamics shine in urban India, though power lags for sustained overtakes—perfect for style-focused buyers valuing comfort and affordability over raw speed.

The Hyosung GV125X cruiser boasts a 125cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine with 14 bhp at 10,250 rpm, 3 valves per cylinder, and SOHC setup for vibey yet refined pulls up to 100 km/h top speed, mated to a slick 5-speed gearbox and belt drive for hushed, low-maintenance operation tailored to India's mixed roads. Weighing 172 kg with low center of gravity, low seat, mid-set pegs, and wide bars, it offers relaxed ergonomics for urban filtering or short tours, backed by telescopic forks, adjustable twin shocks, and CBS brakes on 16-inch front/15-inch rear tubeless tires for stable handling over bumps. Modern touches like full LED lights, digital console for speed/fuel/trips, and bobber aesthetics in Titan Glossy or Black make it a standout versus commuters. Euro5+ compliant, its 35 km/l efficiency suits fuel-conscious buyers, though limited official service means relying on skilled mechanics—perfect for style seekers wanting big-bike vibes in a beginner-friendly package.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

I've ridden countless cruisers, and the Hyosung GV125 stands out in India's crowded 125cc segment for its authentic bobber styling that turns heads in urban traffic without the bulk of larger bikes. Its single-cylinder 124cc air-cooled engine churns out a peppy 14.8 horsepower with a smooth 5-speed gearbox, hitting around 100 km/h top speed—perfect for zipping through Mumbai congestion or cruising Kerala backroads. The low 710mm seat height, wide handlebars, and relaxed ergonomics make it forgiving for new riders or those with shorter stature, while telescopic forks and twin rear shocks handle pothole-riddled Indian roads admirably. Braking via CBS ensures confident stops, and the digital cluster with LED lights adds modern flair. At 165-172kg, it's nimble yet stable, with low-maintenance belt drive and fuel efficiency around 35 km/l stretching your rupee further on rising fuel costs. Drawbacks like modest power for highways are offset by its charm and value; if you crave cruiser vibes on a budget without reliability woes, this is your daily steed for commutes and weekend jaunts, delivering big-bike satisfaction in a learner-friendly package.

I find the Hyosung GV125X a compelling 125cc cruiser that punches above its weight with a V-twin engine delivering 14 bhp, offering smooth power for city commutes and light highway runs up to 100 km/h, paired with a reliable 5-speed gearbox and belt drive for low-maintenance cruising in India. Its bobber-style design with minimalist lines, LED lighting, and low seat height makes it accessible for new riders while turning heads on urban streets, and the telescopic forks plus twin rear shocks handle potholes decently for relaxed rides. The digital cluster keeps essentials like speed and fuel visible, and at 172 kg, it's agile in traffic despite the cruiser stance. Braking via CBS provides confident stops, though it's no track weapon. For Indian buyers seeking style without big-bike costs, I recommend it for daily use and weekend bimble—fuel efficiency around 35 km/l stretches the tank to 500 km, minimizing refills amid rising fuel prices. Drawbacks like limited top-end pull beyond 80 km/h are forgivable for its segment, making it a smart, fun pick over bland commuters if you crave character and comfort.

Hyosung has introduced the GV125 S EVO for 2024, which includes several updates such as new LED headlights and indicators, and a redesigned seat. These changes enhance both the aesthetics and comfort of the bike. I believe these updates will make the GV125 S EVO a more attractive option for buyers in the 125cc market.

The 2024 Hyosung GV125 models are expected to meet Euro4 emission standards, ensuring they are environmentally friendly while maintaining performance. Hyosung has emphasized the design aspects of the GV125, particularly the V-twin engine, which gives the bike a distinctive look and feel. The engines architecture, with a single overhead camshaft and 4 valves per cylinder, contributes to its unique character. This design choice sets the GV125 apart from other 125cc bikes.

Price

Pricing details and changes

In India, the Hyosung GV125 remains niche with limited official dealerships, often imported via grey markets or select outlets in metros like Delhi and Bangalore, pushing ex-showroom prices to approximately Rs 2.5-3 lakh depending on variant and import duties as of 2025—far pricier than domestic 125cc rivals like Honda SP125 at Rs 90,000. On-road figures climb to Rs 2.8-3.5 lakh factoring 10-12% RTO registration, 8-10% insurance, and hypothecation charges, varying by state; for instance, Delhi adds higher road tax while Kerala offers rebates for BS6-compliant imports. I find this premium justified by its superior cruiser aesthetics, V-twin-like stance, and Euro5 build quality that outshines plasticky commuters, but it demands careful negotiation on customs and warranty—official Hyosung support is sparse, so factor Rs 20,000-30,000 yearly for parts. Compared to pricier RE Classics over Rs 2 lakh on-road, the GV125 offers better power-to-weight and style per rupee, making it a smart buy if resale isn't your priority; negotiate aggressively for authenticity certificates to avoid lemons, ensuring long-term ownership costs stay under Rs 50,000 annually including fuel and upkeep.

In India, the Hyosung GV125 remains off mainstream dealer shelves since its DSK-era discontinuation, but grey market imports or limited 2025 GV125X stock hover at ex-showroom equivalents of Rs 2.5-3 lakh based on global pricing like Germany's EUR 4699 (Rs 4.42 lakh), adjusted for duties and logistics. On-road prices swell to Rs 3-3.5 lakh in metros like Delhi or Mumbai, factoring 10-15% RTO, insurance around Rs 15,000-20,000, and handling fees—far pricier than rivals like Hunter 350 at Rs 1.5 lakh ex-showroom. I see value in its premium V-twin cruiser appeal for enthusiasts undeterred by service network gaps, as low upkeep from air-cooled simplicity offsets costs; resale holds if maintained, but scout authorized importers for warranty. Compared to costlier 250cc options, it's a steal for bobber looks, though budget buyers might balk at premiums—ideal if style trumps mass-market savings for discerning riders eyeing long-term satisfaction over bargain basics.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

I clock the Hyosung GV125 at 32-37 km/l in mixed Indian conditions—city sips 30 km/l in traffic, highways push 38 km/l at steady 60-80 km/h—thanks to its efficient 124cc mill and 12L tank yielding 400+ km range. Running costs beat most cruisers at Rs 2/km on Rs 100/l petrol, ideal for budget-conscious buyers prioritizing style over outright economy.
December 12, 2025
I rate the GV125X's 35 km/l (2.8L/100km) realistic for Indian roads, yielding 500 km range on its tank—excellent for cutting running costs amid Rs 100/litre fuel, beating many 125cc rivals in cruiser guise. Light clutch and efficient V-twin suit stop-go traffic, making it a wise buy for mileage-focused commuters without sacrificing style.

Vehicle Overview
Hyosung GV125C is an international spec cruiser that is built on the same architecture as the India spec Aquila 250. The motorcycle comes with the same fuel tank, body frame and equally goods looking shades. It uses a smaller 125 cc, twin cylinder air cooled engine that is good for 14.2 BHP at 10500 rpm and 9.7 Nm at 10000 rpm. It may even be called as the smallest twin cylinder motor that is sold in many international markets. The front wheel used here measures 16 inch and comes with a disc brake while the rear is equipped with 15 inch rim with a drum brake for the purpose. It rivals none other in its segment.
