Hero Splendor iSmart Disc Brake Model
General information and overview
The Hero Splendor iSmart 110 Disc Brake Model is a commuter bike that was designed to offer a blend of modern features and traditional reliability. It comes with a 113.2cc air-cooled, single-cylinder OHC engine, which is equipped with advanced programmed fuel injection and Heros proprietary i3S technology for better fuel efficiency. The bike features 18-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, providing a comfortable ride and good grip on various surfaces. The braking system includes a 240mm single disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the rear, supported by an integrated braking system (IBS). The design includes a small cowl up front and stylish dual-tone graphics, giving it a contemporary look. Other key features include side stand engine cut-off and air-temperature sensing, making it a well-rounded option for daily commuting. Despite its discontinuation, the Splendor iSmart 110 remains a notable model in Heros lineup, known for its performance, fuel efficiency, and modern features.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Hero Splendor iSmart 110 Disc Brake Model, although discontinued, was a significant offering in the commuter bike segment. My experience with this bike highlights its mixed bag of features. On the positive side, the bike boasts a 113.2cc air-cooled engine with advanced programmed fuel injection, which provides a decent performance, especially for city commuting. The 240mm single disc brake at the front and 130mm drum brake at the rear, along with the integrated braking system (IBS), offer adequate braking power. However, the braking could be improved, especially considering the bikes tendency to stop over a considerable distance. The design, with its new stylish dual-tone graphics and small cowl up front, gives it a modern look. Despite these positives, issues such as engine noise and chain drive problems, as reported by some users, are significant drawbacks. Overall, while it was a good option for those seeking a fuel-efficient commuter bike, its discontinuation and reported issues make it less appealing.
Recent news and announcements
The Hero Splendor iSmart Disc Brake Model, although discontinued, was notable for its advanced features such as the i3S technology, which automatically shuts the engine when idling and restarts it when needed, enhancing fuel efficiency. This technology was a significant innovation in the commuter bike segment. I think this feature was a game-changer for city riders.
The bike was powered by a 113.2cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder engine, producing 9.02 HP at 7500 rpm and 9.89 Nm of torque at 5500 rpm. This made it a reliable choice for daily commutes. The engines performance was quite impressive for its class.
The Hero Splendor iSmart Disc Brake Model came with a 240mm single disc brake at the front and a 130mm drum brake at the rear, along with integrated braking system (IBS) for enhanced safety. This braking setup was a step up from the standard drum brakes, offering better stopping power. I believe this made the bike more appealing to safety-conscious buyers.
The bike featured a tubular diamond frame with optimized weight distribution, large 18-inch wheels, and tubeless tires, which contributed to its stability and comfort. The suspension included telescopic hydraulic forks at the front and 5-step adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. This setup provided a smooth ride even on rough roads.
Hero MotoCorp launched the Splendor iSmart 110 as the countrys first BS6-compliant bike in late 2019, marking a significant milestone in the companys transition to cleaner emissions. This move was ahead of the regulatory deadline, showcasing Heros commitment to environmental standards. I think this was a bold and forward-thinking move by Hero.
Pricing details and changes
The Hero Splendor iSmart 110 Disc Brake Model, before its discontinuation, was priced at Rs 74,118 ex-showroom. When considering the on-road price, you would typically add around Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 for registration, insurance, and other costs, bringing the total to approximately Rs 79,000 to Rs 81,000. This pricing was competitive in the commuter bike segment, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers. However, with the model now discontinued, potential buyers would need to look at other available options or consider purchasing a used model, which could affect the overall cost and value.
Fuel efficiency information
The mileage of the Hero Splendor iSmart 110 is one of its strong points, with a claimed fuel efficiency of around 75 kmpl. This makes it a viable choice for daily commuters who are concerned about running costs. In real-world conditions, you can expect a mileage close to this figure, especially if you maintain the bike well and ride it under normal city conditions. This fuel efficiency is a significant factor to consider when making a buying decision, as it directly impacts your long-term expenses.
