Hero Splendor Plus (Old Model)

About
The Hero Splendor Plus is an iconic commuter motorcycle that has been a mainstay in India since its launch in 1994. Powered by a 97.2cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, it produces 8.0 bhp of power and 8.05 Nm of torque, paired with a 4-speed transmission. The bike is known for its fuel efficiency, reliability, and low maintenance costs, making it a preferred choice for middle-class families. The Splendor Plus features a comfortable riding position, a suspension system that effectively absorbs road bumps, and a ground clearance of 165mm that helps navigate speed breakers and rough roads. Over the years, it has undergone several updates, including the introduction of features like an electric starter, alloy wheels, and more recently, an LED headlamp and full LCD instrument console in the XTEC variant. Despite its age, the Splendor Plus continues to be a viable and economical option for daily commuting in India.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Hero Splendor Plus, particularly the older models, has proven to be a stalwart in the Indian motorcycle market. Its enduring popularity can be attributed to its exceptional fuel efficiency, reliability, and low maintenance costs. While the engine may not be the most powerful or eager to rev, it is well-suited for daily commuting, especially within city limits. The ride quality is commendable, and the bikes ability to handle rough roads is a significant advantage. However, its important to note that the quality of paint and plastic components has seen a decline over the years, and some users have reported issues with the fuel injection system in the BS6 models. Despite these minor drawbacks, the Splendor Plus remains a solid choice for those seeking a hassle-free and economical commuting experience.
Price
The price of the Hero Splendor Plus in India varies depending on the state and the specific variant. As of recent data, the ex-showroom price for the base model of the Hero Splendor Plus can range from around 70,000 to 80,000. However, the on-road price, which includes additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other local taxes, can go up to 90,000 to 1,10,000. Its worth noting that prices can fluctuate based on location and any ongoing promotions or discounts. For the most accurate pricing, its advisable to check with local dealerships. Despite the variations, the Splendor Plus remains one of the most affordable and value-for-money options in its segment.
Mileage
Tuesday, 19 November 2024 11:35 PM The Hero Splendor Plus is renowned for its excellent mileage, making it a favorite among commuters. Owners have consistently reported an average mileage of around 60-65 kmpl, which is impressive given the current fuel prices. Proper maintenance, such as regular oil changes and maintaining good tyre pressure, can further enhance the fuel efficiency. This makes the Splendor Plus an excellent choice for those concerned about running costs and seeking to maximize their fuel economy.

I bought the Hero Splendor Plus XTEC 2.0 because of its reputation. The tech features are impressive, and it feels like a modern bike. However, the engine could be more responsive, especially when overtaking. It's a good bike for city dwellers but not for those who seek adventure.

Good service experience, great mileage and a reliable engine

The buying experience from the showroom was very good and the service experience was good. We were able to maintain the air level in the tyres, which gave us a great mileage value. The fuel engine type was sometimes a bit irritating, but we were able to maintain the petrol level in the tank.

The Hero Splendor Plus is a great option for middle-class families. It offers good service experience, great mileage and a reliable engine. The fuel engine type can be a bit of a headache at times, but with proper care, it can perform well and last for a long time.
