BYD's Denza luxury sub-brand is reportedly preparing to enter India by the end of 2026, with the Z9 GT electric fastback and D9 electric MPV expected to lead the range. Autocar India reports that both models would arrive as completely built-up imports.

The Z9 GT is the headline product because the reported three-motor electric version produces 1,156hp. An expected India price band of ₹1.2 crore to ₹1.5 crore would place it deep in the luxury-EV segment. BYD India has not confirmed the launch, output, price or retail plan.

What the report says

denza-z9-gt-india-launch-reported-for-end-2026-1-156hp-ev-explained-1
  • A three-motor Z9 GT EV with 1,156hp is reported for India.

  • The launch is expected by the end of 2026.

  • Reported pricing is ₹1.2 crore–₹1.5 crore.

  • Denza is expected to use separate showrooms in major cities.

Denza is positioned above BYD's mainstream range, so a distinct retail experience would help separate the luxury brand from existing BYD products. The D9 MPV is also reported as part of the entry plan, broadening the proposition beyond a single performance-oriented fastback.

Why overseas specifications are not enough

The Z9 GT is sold in other markets, but those specifications do not automatically establish what India will receive. Homologated output, charging hardware, software features, tyre specification, warranty and equipment can vary by market. The source imagery establishes the global model's identity, not a final India trim.

CBU status would also make pricing sensitive to import duties and final configuration. Until an official price list and specification sheet arrive, comparisons with the Porsche Taycan or other luxury EVs remain indicative.

What buyers should watch

The most important confirmations will be the launch date, final powertrain, battery and range figures, warranty coverage, service footprint and charging support. A separate showroom network would require clear after-sales access as well as premium presentation.

The Z9 GT report signals an ambitious possible entry for Denza, but the 1,156hp figure and expected price should remain attributed until BYD India publishes the production plan.
