In September 2009, Hero Honda launched the Splendor 1 Crore edition to celebrate the milestone of selling one crore units of the Splendor. This special edition featured unique graphics and an all-black paint scheme, including black alloy wheels and a black engine case. This move was a testament to the bikes immense popularity in India. I think this edition was a great way to acknowledge the loyalty of their customers.

In 2009, the Hero Honda Splendor continued to dominate the Indian motorcycle market with its reliable and fuel-efficient performance. The bikes real-world fuel efficiency of over 60-80 km per liter made it a favorite among commuters. The Splendors success was also attributed to its affordable price and robust build quality. I believe this combination of efficiency and affordability is what kept the Splendor ahead of its competitors.

By mid-2009, Hero Honda had already begun planning for the future of the Splendor, with rumors of upcoming models featuring advanced technologies like the APDV (Advance Pro-Series Digital Variable Ignition System). This system was expected to enhance the bikes performance and fuel efficiency further. The anticipation around these updates was high among bike enthusiasts. I think these technological advancements were crucial for the Splendors continued success.

In early 2009, the Splendor NXG, which was launched in 2007, was still on the market but was facing sluggish sales. Despite its sporty looks and features like dual-tone body graphics and 5-spoke alloy wheels, it failed to capture the market as expected. This led to a reevaluation of the models positioning in the market. I believe the NXGs design, though appealing, didnt quite resonate with the traditional Splendor customer base.

At the beginning of 2009, the Hero Honda Splendor was still the top-selling motorcycle in India, thanks to its proven track record of reliability and fuel efficiency. The bikes 97.2cc engine, producing 7.4 bhp, was well-suited for the Indian roads and commuting needs. Its popularity was a reflection of the trust Indian consumers had in the brand. I think the Splendors reliability was its strongest selling point.
