Ducati SuperSport 950 Review

Detailed Review by Maxabout Team

Overview

The Ducati SuperSport 950 has finally arrived in India, fulfilling the Italian automaker's vow to launch at least ten new models in India this year. The new SuperSport 950 is quite expensive in the Indian market, but when has the Italian automaker ever been about value for money? Because of its sport-tourer ergonomics and goals, Ducati describes the SuperSport 950 as a "road superbike."

Ducati SuperSport 950 Design and Style

Ducati has revised the SuperSport 950's appearance for the BS6 edition. The bike now appears to be more Panigale-inspired and has a more aggressive styling. Redesigned muscular fairings, an aggressive air vent, and an intake design make the bike more aerodynamic and direct air for the rider's comfort. Ducati has also revised the windscreen for greater aerodynamic efficiency and two-step adjustment.

Ducati SuperSport 950 Engine and Gearbox

The same 937cc liquid-cooled L-twin Testa stretta engine powers the new Ducati SuperSport 950. Its power output remains constant at 110 HP at 9000 rpm and 93 Nm at 6500 rpm. They have changed the engine to satisfy the BS6 / Euro 5 emission standards. The engine comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper and a Self-Servo wet multi-plate Clutch with hydraulic control and a bidirectional fast shifter, which comes standard on both types of the bike. Traction control, wheelie control, and ABS are all available as safety features on the Ducati SuperSport 950.

Ducati SuperSport 950 Suspension, Brakes and Tyres

At the front, radially mounted Brembo Monobloc M4-32 callipers clamp the dual 320mm semi-floating discs and at the rear, a 2-piston calliper clamps a single 245mm disc. Ducati has equipped the SuperSport with 43mm fully adjustable Marzocchi upside-down forks in the front and a linked semi-adjustable Sachs mono-shock damper in the rear. They fitted the Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres to the 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels. The Supersport S features fully adjustable 48 mm Öhlins TiN-treated forks and a gas-charged mono-shock at the back. The Supersport is a more 'road-focused' Panigale, with a greater emphasis on ergonomics and comfort.

Instrument Console of Ducati SuperSport 950

The instrument cluster features the new 4.3" full-TFT display with graphics and an interface inspired by the Panigale series. Ducati outfitted the new SuperSport 950 with electronic controls based on data from Bosch's 6-axis inertial platform, which can measure the bike's roll, yaw, and pitch angles in space in real-time. The electronic equipment includes Bosch Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO, Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) up / down EVO, which is standard on all models, and Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, a new feature on this model that emphasises its athletic nature. The new 4.3-inch TFT dash allows you to control the bike's three riding modes: Sport, Touring, and Urban. Ducati offers an all-digital Speedometer, Tachometer, Tripmeter, Odometer, Clock, and fuel gauge along with ABS Light, Gear Indicator, Service Reminder, Low Oil Indicator, Low Battery Indicator, Engine Check Indicator, Malfunction Indicator, and other indicators on the SuperSport 950.

Key Features of Ducati SuperSport 950

In terms of features and rider aids, 2024 SuperSport 950 is fairly well-equipped. They equipped the bike with a Bosch 6-axis IMU platform, as well as rider aids like cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control, wheelie control, and an up/down quick shifter. The Ducati has a new 4.3-inch colour TFT display to manage these functions. It also gets a full LED makeover, including the famous brow-type DRLs. The Ducati SuperSport 950 also has heated grips, a Ducati Multimedia System (DMS) and a USB charging plug under the seat, and optional panniers. The S model additionally includes a seat cowl that may cover the pillion seat.

Top Speed and Mileage of Ducati SuperSport 950

2024 Ducati SuperSport 950 mileage is 17.86 kmpl (company-claimed). In terms of performance, it can speed up from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.40 seconds and can achieve a max speed of 300 km/h.

Ducati SuperSport 950 Colour Options

Ducati offers the new SuperSport 950 in two variants - 950 and 950 S and the colour options differ as per the variant. Ducati offers the SuperSport 950 in one colour option, i.e. Ducati Red and the SuperSport 950 S comes in two colours - Ducati Red and Arctic White.

Ducati SuperSport 950 Competitors

2024 Ducati SuperSport 950 competitors include Kawasaki Z H2, BMW S1000R, Yamaha MT-10, Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory, Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory and BMW F900R.

Conclusion

Ducati is in fine form, producing one amazing bike after another, and the new SuperSport 950 is no exception. Easily customizable electronics are a pleasant and major improvement. Euro-5 compliant (BS6), the engine/exhaust, still delivers fun, character, and real-world performance without being daunting. Cruising a motorcycle and extracting 100 per cent from the machine is more fun than riding about on a bike and just scratching the surface of what it can do. 2024 Ducati SuperSport 950 and 950 S condenses all the fun of smashing down a B-road on a full-fat sports bike into an easy-to-ride, comfortable, and usable package. It truly makes us question why you'd pine for a Panigale when the modest SuperSport makes so much more sense in the real world on actual roads.
