Ducati Superbike 848 EVO Review

20 Sep, 2014 02:57 PM

Quick Review by Maxabout Team

The Ducati Superbike 848 EVO is classified as an entry-level sportsbike by its manufacturer, but some reviewers believe it is not such a junior motorcycle.  The superbike promises its users a smooth experience because of its improved engine, which is the most advanced in its class. The engine consists of an L-Twin cylinder with four valves in each cylinder. The engine is liquid cooled and delivers 140 bhp of power at 10500 rpm. The superbike’s torque is 98 nm at 9750 rpm. The 848 EVO is made to be friendly to users of different sizes because of its dimensions. Its seat stands at 32.6 inches; its wheelbase is 56.3 inches and its front wheel travel is 5 inches, 0.3 inches more than the rear wheel’s. Its dry weight is 168kg, and things get heavier when its 15.5-liter fuel tank is occupied.

In terms of instruments, the 848 EVO is packed with everything a superbike should have. It has an integrated immobilizer system; has warning lights for such things as fuel reserve, turn signals, etc; and has a Digital MotoGP derived unit that displays speed, lap times, air temp, battery voltage, etc. All these make the user’s experience with the superbike all the more enjoyable because interaction with the machine is improved. The superbike’s exhaust system is also crafted in the best of Ducati traditions. It is a lightweight 2-1-2 system that has two lambda probes and a catalytic converter. All these features combine to make a superbike for which the manufacturers give a two-year unlimited mileage warranty.
